Spore property: Whats really going on?

I am getting very different feedback. On the contrary, a lot of people is saying that there is a mini boom right now. Even the papers today reported "brisk" sales for HDB resales and some mass market properties. It is prediciting more stable prices in the next few quarters. Demand is on the...

Degree, work in stat board, MSO(3) good?

May I just add. Our GOV agencies and organisations are very similar to the old Chinese Imprerial Exam 科举 system. Once you are the top few candidates Zhuangyuan (狀元), Bangyan (榜眼), Tanhua (探花), your career will be smooth and high-flying. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_examination In...

Degree, work in stat board, MSO(3) good?

Hey TS, not to dampen your spirits, your degree is not going to take you very far in the Stat board. In fact, my local degree will not take me far too in the public sector too. And starting in your position is even harder. I have no doubt about your enthu and you definitely sound like a very...

Why Alan Foo need to be shot for writing this shit!

I totally agree with this statement: "past winnings count very little". It is true that Temasek and GIC should look long term when investing. I am more than willing to give credits to the management teams for performing well above "market expectation". I am also sure that the teams had rewarded...

S'pore Property Sold 1500 Units In May Because Of This....

They are the smart one. I won't mind paying 3000 to 5000 a month for a good condo for a year or so to wait the property prices to drop, then buy at a reasonable low price. I'll fulfill the sell high, buy low principle. The savings could be 100K to 500K, more than offset the rental.

    S'poreans marrying later

I'm over 30 and still single. I would love to get married but still looking around for a soul mate, one I could spend the rest of my life. Not easy. Not so much there isn't girl around. There isn't one that yet to make my heart skip a beat. When there is one, it's usually taken. Well, I'll try...

STI index to crash within the next 3 months...

My opinion is that the support level for STI is around 2100. If this point is broken, the index could go way below 2000, back to 1800 or so where it is probably the fair value currently. Otherwise, the index will be holding between 2100 to 2300, with anticipation that the economy will recover...

Is the financial media trying to talk up the market.?

Are the good times really back? How come I dun quite feel the same? I am still worrying about my ricebowl. I still earn peanuts...oops...not peanuts, they are for immortals... Is there any fundamentals in the recent months rally? Can it be sustained? I think those who have made a bit, it's...

    Motorola to QUIT SinKaPOOR

Agreed. SIA is probably one and truly only global company we have. And if you look deeper, there are many people whose ricebowls are directly or indirectly dependent on SIA. From CAAS, STAS, ST Aerospace, etc. SIA is their biggest customer and make up a lot of their annual revenue. The...

    Motorola to QUIT SinKaPOOR

I am writing from my experience working for MNCs, both in manufacturing and sales positions. In my opinion, Singapore is fast losing her premium status as a manufacturing hub, be it high-end or low-end. In fact, we have only a slight advantage over say Taiwan, China or other countries because of...

Eric: Temasick, Stop Hiding Behind Ur Running Dog!

Agreed totally. It will be interesting to know the exact portfolio of Temasek. This will give us a very clear idea how it has performed for the past years and in future. Separating GLCs from the "high profile" investments it had made will provide a transparent view of the capabilities of the...

    Correlation between height and income

I can cite a few others that aren't too tall but earning good salaries...Nathan and Danabalan. Well, I can't deny the fact that if a guy is taller, there could be more opportunities for him to climb to a higher position or earn more money. Then again, it's really just one of the many factors...

Moronic Reply By Tartman to Ho Jinx's Reckless Punting!

It's quite sad. Those billions could have be used in a more beneficial way to help the citizens. Imagine setting up a fund to support the lower-income family or implementing some really useful assistance to the needy. I would rather the money be given out to Singaporeans that lost to the wilderness.

Failure of Viv. Balakrisnan to resolve the Table Tennis Controversy

I have a poser. If the coach is local, would you think the incident will blow up till this scale? Will the local coach just accept anything that is meted out to him? Kinda give me this thought that locals will just suffer in silence, at least if it's against the "immortals".

Facebook 'Which Singaporean elite school do you belong to?

What is so great about RGS gals? They aren't the prettiest lot though I have to admit they might be the brainiest. Seriously, given a chance to bonk, I would go for looks and figures. That will at least get me physically satisfied. I dun mind giving mental chalenge a miss here :D

CCB MRT Made $163M Profit. Up 13%!

How much did they lower the price of commute to help Singaporeans in this difficult time? 1 cent? 3 cents? If pursuit of more profit is the board's goal, I am afraid that we will see ever increasing prices. Anyone has info on the cost structure of SMART? What's their biggest expenditure? What...

    1000 frames per second

What it mean is that the scenes are captured with a high speed camera @ 1000 frames per second. Hence, when you play back at normal speed, 32 or 34 frames per second, you can see those actions in warp speed. Very interesting.
