Thanks for the information. I wonder what the market initially would feel about this premium being paid but I do agree that the long term poutlook of this exercise should be beneficial. There is value in this counter.

Serious SIA Is Making 1.5mil loss on the daily basis

Yes fingers crossed for SIA price to go up. As an aside, I bought into Jumbo too at 62 cents yesterday. Their Singapore business is tepid at the moment but their business in China has taken off quite well. There is also an outlet in Vietnam. All this is organic growth which makes their prospects...

Serious SIA Is Making 1.5mil loss on the daily basis

I took a risk and bought some at 9.99. I cant really explain why I did this though because normally I am averse to airline shares as they are subject to many types of shocks and downturns. Perhaps I felt that it was oversold.

I think both Scoot and Tiger have turned around and have been in the black lately as evidenced by the fairly respectable bonus they have announced. I think they got over 2 months bonus.

I dont think they are ready to give up their ghost yet.

Serious SIA Is Making 1.5mil loss on the daily basis

I think they realise that but cannot come out in the open to say it. This is why Scoot was birthed with a golden spoon in its mouth ( given SIA's brand new 787s ). It is important to SIA that Scoot succeeds. SIA stopped flying to a few places a few years back but now Scoot is flying to those...

I am sure its price will eventually be supported by the big guns.

Serious SIA Is Making 1.5mil loss on the daily basis

Agreed, I was just going to reply him when you did. Airlines are going to find it very difficult to make good money on a regular basis these days. Too many seats to every country and not enough people to fill those seats resulting in low yields. SIA faces intense competition from the ME...

Serious SIA Is Making 1.5mil loss on the daily basis

There were some reasons for the 4th quarter loss. Singapore Airlines: Dividend cut on disappointing FY17 Singapore Airlines’ (SIA) 4QFY17 swung to a core net loss of at S$6.4m, vs. core PATMI of S$127.3m a year ago, as it recorded a one-off provision of S$131.9m in relation to...

Alright I'll look again at around 1.80 and note the buying/selling bids and the general sentiment then and buy in.

Thought I would revive this thread. I did buy into Wing Tai earlier on and sold at 1.92. It has come down since and could be worth a look once it hits 1.70 or so.

Yes Optus as one of the incumbents in Oz will be affected by the entrance of TPG. Hard to say where the price of Singtel will stabilise at. Many short sellers out there betting on it going lower.

    Serious Uvwxyz

Singtel fell likely because of its Optus operations facing competition from startup. Can look at buying around $3.60 level.

No I didnt apply for kimly. Capitaland is a good stock. I bought some in Sep 2015 at 2.79 and am still holding on. I lost money on PEC about 8 years ago. I dont have a good trading record.

Which of your stocks are up 20 to 30 %? If they are those punting stocks with low or unsustainable dividend payouts or if they are stocks that have suddenly shot up eg Jumbo then maybe its a good idea to offload. But if you had bought say DBS last Aug when it was around 14.80 then i would...

    1. DBS. This counter should be helped upwards by impending interest rates rise but the milestone round its neck is Ezra. Also once ex dividend on 4 May the price should drop. Can hit 20 or not its hard to say but its a good long term stock. 2. Singtel . This counter always flattering to...

Chitchat So i just bought a condo

Its not the best deal in the world but if you have the holding power I don't see you losing money on this one. The rental will go some way to help with the mortgage and once the market runs up again then you should be able to realise some profit because of the good location.
