I'm really interested to ask why the question about the publication's ownership. Is it to detect reporting bias?

Fair, balanced assessment of Malaysia from a former envoy. BIMB out recently noting an expectation of a 'stagnation' of the economy (at best) this year due to the weakening of Chinese demand. Exchange rate trying to test the 3-1 mark again, so I'm still expecting it to pass that number...

Was buying bank shares in '09 not astute? People forget the panic and fear of the GFC...in the end, the call was: buy shares in banks - they could all go bust... However, if all the banks had gone bust (the complete disolution of the capitalist AND fiat system) - my thoughts were that a paper...

I hear you loud and clear. And yet....anyone who bought an east ledang house a little while back would sell today at a healthy margin - even if they fire-sale the place to make the transaction. Puteri does have strong selling points..Wouldn't fancy owning in danga or forest city much, though.

Please. I bought bank shares in q1 '09. If I'd lost money, I'd have shrugged. I made money - it did NOT make me astute, that would be me re-writing the history on what was just...a bet. Except...I moved on from that investment. Sounds to me like you were lucky on the upswing and still live off...

I'm afraid not - am down in oz that week. Incidentally, I was over in puteri on Sunday. At 11:00 there were only 3 lights on in imperia. Perhaps busier on Saturday. Still, I do see real value in Puteri, particularly once the ferry link is up. It's a lovely spot, puteri cove building works...

Not for this guy if his bank is auctioning the property off. Think that might be a bargain later this month...you have to expect it to sell well below list price in the current market. I guess anyone buying without a hefty deposit (or hoping to cover by rental) will be tested, multi millionaires...

Even scarier - first distressed sale at imperia by the look of it: http://www.propertyguru.com.my/property-listing/imperia-for-sale-by-ken-wan-21860114?ref=ls%7Cnormal%7C1%7C1 Rentals not covering payments, DIBS ran out.. Holding power, low leverage as ever, remain key.

I was just surprised by your poor comprehension, that's all. SG is a great place to live, if increasingly expensive for many. I don't think it’s in any way condescending to mark the country out as being unique. It IS very much a bubble: if you can’t see that, you’re blind. The GDP per person...

Actually, he described SG as a germ-free sugar bubble, like a man-made lagoon. This is high praise, rather than condescension. It takes huge skill to make something as efficient and pasteurized as SG...even to have the vision to create and sustain a USP for inward invesmtent into the country is...

Capital advice! For the young with a time machine. Anyone buying a condo now that has reasonable proximity to the city centre via a mrt within 15 minutes walk will have to drop a fat deposit on an asset which yields a negative return on the rental market. They will be subsidizing the renter -...

Well, those who do not learn history are condemned to repeat it. Looks like you'll just have to read those prices on the bill, if not the menu and occasionally fall out of your seat at these occasional shocking prices.

Deploy your razor wit. Maybe read the price menu before me you sit down and get 'stung' for $30 again for a meal for 4. There will be a variety of menus and price points for any urban location as outlets position themselves for different wallets. Not everything in JB is dirt cheap, nor should...

It's really not expensive. Especially for someone who has been to the moon and back with property investing.

The F1 is not a 'high society event' unless you are on a fixed track, in a box. I never dreamt what you mention in the first place. I do know it won't make Puteri a worse place. I doubt many give much thought about it, other than that it will be nice to see sail boats passing through.

No way it starts to run before 2018 (i.e. when SMR and PC are complete). I can't see the demand for anything more than weekend shuttles at the moment. So...maybe a Saturday service to test the market in 2017, but 2018 for a regularised service.
