Tiktoker Ron K: When you wear an expensive Rolex to Singapore Airlines while the stewardess serve you towel.

however, there are some who expect others to envy him. So what category of this person is in?
It's already explained in the row of Chinese characters at the end of the post :

富貴不還鄉, 如同錦衣夜行 :geek:

Economy class is where he feels most at home, and where he goes to cultivate the envy on which his sense of superiority depends.
nothing wrong with economy class, the vegetarian food is ok. i think business class also serve the same vegetarian food so what is the point. haha

I hope this tiktoker to fall into the shit hole and dirty his Rolex

only sinkie bozos will try to impress flight attendants with their watches in their flashy display of materialism. majority of real multimillionaires who travel a lot are low profile, minimalistic, shy individuals who treasure privacy and quiet personal time.
I think they fly on business jets with a young hot masseur in tow. The young hot masseur wear rolex.

Someone CSI this fucker so he can kena ambush and rob
No need to csi. Hope he wears it to london paris or Barcelona and see if he come back in one piece. He is obviously a fake or low ses who hasn't travelled much. High ses or HNWI who flies often knows that nowadays u don't wear any gold or rolexes to any European cities or even bangkok or KL. High chance u get stabbed or literally arm chopped off. Had a friend who was trackked the moment he left a paris hotel and waylaid as he was wearing an AP. I myself have a few antiques rolexes and never wear them. Why try to impress people u don't know or low SES. And real high end watches that super rich wears are sometimes so inconspicuous and rare that most millionaires doesn't even know the brand. Rolex and AP is just too common and cheap. . Try mouawad or graff.

Rolex makes a million watches a year - how exclusive can it be? And yet people go bonkers over it - even on the grey and used market Rolex holds its prices better than all the other brands, Patek included.

Reason? The greatest marketing campaign in the world, bar none. Harvard case study. Skilful advertising, using celebrities to endorse the brand, creating an aura of mystique, allure and invincibility (904L steel oyster case, Twinlock screw-down crown, Incabloc shock absorber, chronometer accuracy). As a kid I saw an ad of Edmund Hillary summiting Mt Everest wearing a Rolex Explorer and told myself: I'll own a Rolex one day. When your entire life depended on a reliable timepiece, only a Rolex would do.

Now I know better.
U are partially correct rolex holds its worth better than most other brands BUT for the wrong reasons. I have been collecting rolexes since 1980s and sole off most as felt disgusted at its marketing policy and quality. Rolex are actually very badly made in 1980s. They produced 1m a years since 1980s and quality was so bad that a famous watch critic Holbrook slammed rolex for all its very bad QC that rolex prices crashed overnight that year. Only then rolex start to pay attention and improve its QC. Now why rolex keeps its value is because of its image as a high end security deposit. Gamblers at casinos are known to pledge it as security with triads gaming concierges. Also it was used as a form of money laudering esp taking money out of china. U can't take millions of RMB out as currency controls but in shanghai u buy a rolex wears it out of airport fly to Bangkok or HK or Singapore and resell it next day for almost same price in some cities for cash. The triads have sideline watch businesses who does this. U cant do that for jewellery as no standardization. But for rolexes its all standard models with minimum standard retail prices and hard to fake and accepted world wide like gold. That te reason why it kept its value as well as rolex maintaining strict supply. Those hardcore who collect rolexes in 1990s to 2000s knows these deep secrets then .

Agree with most points except that I dun think any Rolexes were ever badly made. They were tool watches and they were made solid and lasted long as well. I dunno when along the way they became a luxury brand.
Back then Rolex didn’t pretend to be something they were not.

People have this weird logic that when they wear expensive things, others see you and they will be impressed.

I have never been impressed by anyone wearing a Rolex. Most are useless uncles harping on their glorious good old days; ah beng / bro types who wanna look nouveau riche; typical office mid level management who are neither at the top nor the bottom.

The richest folks just stay in nice landed properties, maybe wear an Apple Watch or drive a Tesla. They don’t try to impress anyone with a Rolex.
