Taiwan belong to China or Japan?

Taiwan's President, William Lai Ching-te, recently stated during an interview at the New York Times DealBook Summit that "Taiwan is willing to help and cooperate in addressing these economic challenges which China is facing." However, he did not elaborate on specific measures or strategies.
I always thought he was staunchly anti-China, will punish anyone who receives donation from the country during any election, yet he openly attempts to assist China.

Article 8 of the Cairo Declaration within the Potsdam Declaration is indeed a pivotal element in the discussion of Taiwan's position. It outlines the intent for territories taken by Japan, including Taiwan, to be returned to China, which has significant implications for Taiwan's sovereignty and its political status in the context of international relations.
 
Taiwan has its own military, passport, system of government, currency. It is an independent, sovereign state.

It is the real 'China', succeeding the Qing dynasty.

The CCP was an interloper, supported by the Soviets and Jewish bankers back in the day. Especially LKY's sifu, Henry Kissinger, who pulled the strings to let Nixon make his visit to China.

Also, many of those ethnic minority 'autonomous' regions on mainland China are not traditional Han Chinese territory. If you remove them, the geographical size of the PRC will be about one third of its current size. :cool:

correct. The Japanese left Taiwan for the ROC govt after WWII. The ROC govt retreated to Taiwan in '49 and legitimately continued from then. The CCP only "conquered" mainland China but never stepped foot on Taiwan hence, they cannot claim Taiwan
 
You can't blame the Han for the more than half of the land that belongs to them; it was the Qing who not only offered Manchuria to them but also gained more and from Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Tibet.

For that argument to work, the CPC would have to be removed first. After all, the KMT predates the CPC and played a major role in the political environment from which the CPC emerged, thus in that sense, the KMT is the CPC's political "great-grandfather."
 
Sun Zhong Shan & KMT retreated to Taiwan while fighting the communist although they are the legally elected Party. The communist did not go there to
fight them so now separated lor...Totally independant.
 
The Kuomintang was just as brutal as communists initially. If not more brutal. Anyone suspected of being a communist spy were executed. A movie was made where a disabled guy who longed for a pilots beautiful wife, made allegation against the husband. He was executed. And wife later married to disabled guy.
 
KMT does not wish for a separate Taiwan or China, Chang KS has hope for attacks on China again to gain back lost territory but in the end he gives up
 
Taiwan belongs to its indigenous people. The chinese were just migrants who eventually took over the country
