Seller usually look at customer first and then decide whether worth helping. If you look adorable, a celebrity or a minister, they will help you to pack nicely, give extra pieces for free, ask for selfie and smile until their chin dropped.

I drive so I always have 1-2 glass containers with a plastic cover on hand to pack food home if the hawker centre is too crowded or hot. I see no point in paying for plastic containers which are discarded after eating the meagre leftovers.
