The problem of rising unemployment/underemployment among degree holders in S'pore is hardly surprising, as this has been a trend in developed economies for decades. First World countries struggling under massive amounts of debt are unable to generate enough jobs for the cluster of graduates entering the workforce every year. The situation is aggravated by the incompatibility between the content of university courses and the range of abilities required to fill job vacancies. The fact that the PAP has swung the doors wide open to foreigners (even CECAs with counterfeit degrees) further aggravates the situation for our young grads.
It is also depending on the government policy, if it doesn't protect the locals then CECA Indians always prevail, as they are the cheaper.and plentiful in supply.
Despite the Fair Consideration Framework, the SG govt finds it difficult to prove a company intentionally discriminates against a S'porean candidate, leading to anxiety that many employers may not be genuinely practicing fair hiring i.e. discriminates against S'poreans.
