Property Market is red-hot

In S'pore, a millionaire is defined as a person with a net worth of at least US$1 million (S$1.36 million). However, a more accurate definition should be a person with S$1.36 million in cash in the bank. A HDB pigeon hole with an asking price of that amount means nothing if there are no foolish buyers for that flat.
The issue is many are paying more than 1 million for hdb flats....there will be more to come...
Everyone needs a roof over their heads

SINGAPORE – About a third of over 15,000 workers in Singapore reported facing work-related stress or burnout in 2024, based on data from a free online assessment tool by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) and several partners.

However, as it is optional for employers to let employees take the iWorkHealth assessment, the sample may not be fully reflective of the overall workforce or within specific industries, cautioned Senior Parliamentary Secretary for Manpower Shawn Huang.

A Chinese woman’s dream of starting a new life in Singapore ended abruptly after she rented a dirty “piggy house” which she had to share with a dozen flatmates.

A woman, surnamed Liu, 41, recently told the Singaporean media outlet Shin Min Daily that her older sister rented space in a four-room flat crammed with at least 14 people.

The renter arrived in Singapore in mid-August to work at a beauty salon.

Under pressure from her employer to register an address, she rented the place without viewing it, paying the landlord S$900 (US$700), which included one month’s rent and a deposit.

When she moved in, she was shocked to find that the flat was packed with tenants.

Two of the four rooms had six dwellers each, one room had a couple. They were not aware of the conditions in the last room

Despite these positive economic signals, the overall outlook remains uncertain. Companies’ ability to plan and invest requires predictability, but all signs suggest US President Donald Trump is not done with his tariffs, after a string of sector-specific tariffs that have been announced or suspended on short notice.

Singapore will be more greatly affected by these external developments rather than domestic consumption, especially if growth among key trading partners such as China and the US slows.

Economic data shows China is still in deflation, while inflation in the US has started trending up again. There were concerns about whether the Fed made the right move at a tricky time when the US job market is weak and inflation has been sticky. US analysts are even forecasting that the US economy might be headed for stagflation.
