Her daughter also used Malaysian slangs like “liao” and “don’t know lah.”

How so? Here are some of the things she observed ever since her daughter’s return.

From fashion girl to slippers

Before leaving, her daughter was a self-proclaimed fashionista. She loved shopping, mixing and matching outfits, and changing shoes every week.

Hanging out with friends to café-hop and take photos was part of her routine.

But after returning from Malaysia? Her go-to look is shorts, a T-shirt, and slippers. Her only “fashion accessory” now is a plush toy hanging from her tote bag.

Chose mamak food over fine dining

The woman said her daughter used to prefer fine dining and trendy restaurants. But now, she raves about mamak food, RM10 mixed rice, and even durian buffets.

“Back home, she never cared about taxi fares or the weather. But after living in Malaysia, whenever it rains, the first thing she says is: ‘Oh no, fares will go up. Better compare before booking.'”

Even her way of speaking has changed. In the middle of a conversation in her local dialect, she will suddenly throw in Malaysian slangs like “liao” and “don’t know lah.”

The mother also shared that her daughter often wakes up in the middle of the night stressing over university work.

‘Not the same girl anymore’

The mother ended her post by saying she was shocked at how much her daughter had transformed after just studying in Malaysia.

She even asked online: “Can someone please teach me how to fix this?”

Why you keep attacking him. Later he beat you to puppy then u know. You know you always bully me I also never retaliate one. I is peaceful man.
Don't sow discord. I didn't attack him. He does wear slippers. That the lady could have been influenced by him is a compliment - he is virile.

Glad to see chinese girl prefer food with some taste instead of bland chinese food.
If parents had sent her to US, she could be a scientist or chip designer by now.

Tell the mother i can help.

I believe the straw that broke the camel's back is Singlish.

She needs a Californian-Sinkie to achieve a win-win result.
more like she buay tahan jiuhu cina putonghua’s accent causing her to descent into insanity. i can’t tahan jiuhu’s mandarin accent for 6.9 seconds. 1 more second and i’ll go crazy too. singlish accent is just slightly better. worst of course is viet.
