SINGAPORE – A man has been arrested for drink driving after an accident involving a car and a pedestrian on the night of Oct 3.
The incident occurred at the junction of Serangoon Road and Lavender Street at around 9.10pm, according to both the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and police.
The 71-year-old male pedestrian was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, while the 37-year-old car driver was arrested for drink driving. Photos of the accident posted on Facebook by the SGRV Front Man account show a dark saloon car stationary after hitting a traffic light, which is bent. Several migrant workers are looking on as SCDF personnel tend to the victim on the grass verge. Debris is scattered on the side of the road and pavement.
Does any motorist notice that motorcyclists create their own lanes on expressways? The situation is especially serious along the BKE and PIE during morning and evening rush hours. Switching lanes is a hazardous exercise for any driver with bikers (most of whom bear Malaysian plates) creating a seemingly endless stream in between designated lanes. The lack of TP enforcement makes this a daily occurrence.
