Pritam Singh is not even a Minister. He receives an annual package of $385,000 as Leader of the Opposition which is actually quite minuscule when compared to the salaries of the PAP Ministers which range from $1 million to $2.2 million.

Goh CT triggered many S'poreans when he declared: "So I look for Ministers, anybody who wants to be paid more than half a million, I won’t take him. You are going to end up with very very mediocre people, who can’t even earn a million dollars outside to be our minister. Think about that. Is it good for you, or is it worse for us in the end?" The "very very mediocre people who can't earn a million dollars" appears to be how Goh and his PAP colleagues think and behave.

Even though PAP politicians do not have a clear conscience, they are able to sleep soundly, even if there's a knock on the door in the middle of the night, because they are aware that nobody is checking on them. They have already fixed up anyone who tried to do so.
 
The PAP govt has not provided a public explanation for why a state funeral was not offered to former President Ong Teng Cheong. The govt's position is that a state funeral is for individuals who have made "truly exceptional contributions" to S'pore. As S'pore's first elected President, Ong Teng Cheong had a constitutional duty to safeguard our past reserves. To fulfill this role, he sought to get a full accounting of the reserves. This led to a public dispute with the govt, which he described at a 1999 press conference. This is the actual reason why he was denied a state funeral.

It's very obvious that in SG's societal culture. Asking valid or in fact any question that undermines the status quo leads to one's doom.
Many local SMEs, Singaporean in middle to higher management inherited this mentality.
As the saying goes, the rot starts from the top.
