Taiwan has begun mass production of its home-grown Tuo Jiang-class missile corvettes and high-speed minelayers as it seeks to shore up its naval forces amid rising hostility from Beijing.
Dubbed the “aircraft carrier killer”, the small but powerful corvette, which has a displacement of 680 tonnes and a top speed of 45 knots, is a state-of-the-art stealth warship built by Lung Teh Shipbuilding.
A total of three corvettes will be built under the NT$31.6 billion (US$1 billion) Hsun Hai project, the self-ruled island’s navy said.

The warship is equipped with one of the world’s most technologically advanced computer systems and built partly with high-entropy metal alloys for extra strength and durability, it said. Its stealth technology and low radar cross section makes the ship virtually invisible at sea and even more obscure when operating close to the coastline.

Armed with eight subsonic Hsiung Feng II and eight supersonic Hisung Feng III anti-ship missile launchers, the corvettes are intended to take over many of the missions currently undertaken by larger, less manoeuvrable and more expensive frigates and destroyers, the navy said.
In the event of an actual armed conflict with Beijing, the warships would also boost Taiwan’s ability to counter a much larger and better equipped rival, a concept known as asymmetric warfare.

Made only from very thin and light aluminium hull and fibreglass, these are too fragile to withstand from ANY AMMUNITION.

If you use helicopters fired anti-tank missiles at it, one or 2 rounds can sink it, way over killed they are much weaker than tanks.

先简要介绍下何为无人机“蜂群作战”,顾名思义,这一概念最初源于蜜蜂群,科学家发现蜜蜂(或蚂蚁)一类的群体昆虫,虽然单个个体的智能十分低下,但却可以通过群体相互之间的简单协作所表现出来的集体智能来弥补,通过一些局部简单的相互交流,整个“蜂群”(或蚁群)可以通过组织协作完成一些较为复杂的、个体无法完成的任务,类似的“集群智能”正是构成无人机“蜂群作战”的技术原理。
美国在无人机“蜂群作战”领域开展研究时间较早,不仅已进行过多次无人机“蜂群”编队飞行试验(例如 2017年1月,美海军3架F/A-18E/F“超级大黄蜂”舰载战机曾在加利福尼亚州进行的一次试验中,连续释放了103架“灰山鹑”微型无人机,后者在释放后还进行了“蜂群”编队集结,以及沿路径点进行编组飞行),而且已进行过拦截攻击试验。

此次中国兵器馆中展出的“蜂群作战”用攻击型无人机,不论是从无人机本身,还是所搭载的各种武器,实际都是“现货产品”。攻击型无人机大概分为大型的MR-150型、和小型的MR-40型两种,前者为六轴旋翼推进,一架可以挂载5枚反装甲末敏子弹药或2个“蓝箭-5”反坦克导弹发射筒;2个“蓝箭-5”反坦克导弹发射筒后者为4轴旋翼推进,可以挂载2枚轻型导弹或一个单兵多用途转筒榴弹发射器。可见系统整体花费成本不高,难点主要在于无人机“蜂群”系统的控制技术方面。

除了正规军使用无人机“蜂群”执行反装甲集群作战外,宣传视频还演示了无人机“蜂群”的另一作战用途,搭载单兵手持多用途榴弹发射器等非致命武器,处理反恐、劫持人质等“低烈度”任务。
根据宣传视频演示的内容,手持AK-47步枪的恐怖分子在劫持人质后,占据了一栋多层建筑,并不断向接近的警方开枪射击。这时警方派出了由多架无人机组成的“蜂群”编队,分别搭载有光学传感器、轻机枪(可能配备了橡皮子弹)和榴弹发射器。其中搭载有光学传感器的侦察无人机首先对作战环境进行预先探测(例如建筑的构造,恐怖分子及人质的所在位置等),随后机枪无人机负责从正面火力压制并吸引恐怖分子注意力,另一架搭载有催泪瓦斯的榴弹无人机从建筑的另一侧连续发射多颗榴弹,利用催泪瓦斯将恐怖分子瘫痪后,特警小队突入将其控制,并救出人质。

Taiwan is too close to mainland to need any aircraft carrier to invade. The aircraft carrier is not an amphibious landing ship, it is a small airbase floating. Mainland got plenty big airbase close enough to Taiwan, and in fact too close that they would prefer to use those less close to Taiwan so that there is operational strategic depth to isolate between frontline and rear. And this, is the MAIN ADVANTAGE THAT MAINLAND ENJOY OVER TAIWAN - Taiwan too seriously lack the necessary strategic depth to defend against mainland = there is NO REAR on that fucking slim island too close to mainland's shoreline. There is absolutely no safe place for rear airbase that mainland cannot directly cover by ground fire using many types of 300km ranged ground based ammunition. China can safely launch their bombers and transport and combat aircraft deeper inside mainland, that Taiwan is unable to attack from their island. These aircraft launched will reach over Taiwan within few mins. Even to return to base or make refuel / reload ammo round trip is FAST ENOUGH & CONVENIENT.

Rear 后方 is your well guarded safe space, which enemies cannot reach unless they fight though many layers of your defense.

This is basic ABC of WAR ART if you were in 1st year of any of the many military school e.g. 国防大学, 空军航空大学, 海军工程大学, you will learn this basic in 1st year syllabus. if you failed, you got booted out of school.

Taiwan island measures only 360km length (slanted) and 135km max width (slanted), shortest distance to mainland 133km, furthest only 377km.

PLA won't even desperately and foolishly use coastal airport / air base to launch invasion, the coastal area is concentrated for sea-bound landing forces and logistics, and that area is already to cramped to make further squeeze. You won't want a high concentration of assets put so near where it is subjected to counter strikes from Taiwan.

As a strategic plan, you launch initial attack from much further back, safer areas using missiles and air-forces, and long range MLR rockets to KO most of Taiwanese firepower and air-bases until you are sure that they are half dead can no longer hit your coastal area, before you assemble your landing troops and logistics at that area. If Taiwan still can manage to fire missiles / turn on radars / take off warplanes and sail warship to sea, you don't assemble any assets near coastline for them to hit. In other words, you use your own strategic depth to leverage against their lack of it! They have no safe places to hide their assets because they are just a slim long island so nearby to your huge land mass. You wipe out their assets 1st. Giving them no target within their effective range to counter-hit, as you hit them from your safest defended areas. Meanwhile you don't expose any asset to where they can hit. Until their assets are lost to your initial attacks, can no longer hit your coastal areas, then you assemble your landing assets and logistics at there, when only you sure that you are safe there, and must get ready to get across the straits next.

How would PLA be stupid enough to put aircraft carriers to this use of hitting Taiwan?

To deal with tiny Taiwan aircraft carriers are not necessary, and STUPID IGNORANT Taiwanese showed the world that they did not attend military school! LOL!

If aircraft carriers are to be used. They will be deployed in Philippine Sea and East China Sea near to Japan Okinawa. That is with a naval fleet to BLOCK US NAVY & Japs if they tried to come to help Taiwan. You need to deploy warship and submarines and warplane there to prevent US / Jap forces to try to get close to Taiwan, and your deployment deter and intercept & engage them to deny them to the BBQ dance party @ Taiwan. Secondary purpose there is to block and intercept any Taiwanese ships and plane from fleeing towards Japan & Philippine or Vietnam.

That will be the only realistic use of aircraft carrier in an action of 武统台湾. These areas are vast and big and too far to use mainland airbase to cover. You need to be there as and when, very responsive. If you are engaged in combat against Americans there, your aircraft refuel & reload ammo from carriers faster than flying back to mainland airbase - remember you may not want to fly over Taiwan war theater unnecessarily because your other units are busy there & missiles are flying there.

Their tiny size and displacement with such limited range and combat radius are totally not compatible to meet engagement with aircraft carriers, and they mislead peasants who have completely no military knowledge as if they found a cheap counter measure against PLA's military might telling fairy tales. Which idiot in the naval world would bring a 66,000 ton aircraft carrier so close to a tight straits unnecessarily to get hit by tiny 600 ton corvettes? RSN Admirals??

Persian Gulf is slightly (40%) bigger than Taiwan Straits and there were only once or twice the US Navy moved carriers inside Gulf during Iraq wars, because they desperately need these mini-air-bases to launch air attacks into Iraq. The military critics slammed Pentagon badly for this stupid act and risk taking. They strongly prefer rather a longer flight into Iraq by having carrier outside Gulf.

The case of aircraft carrier passing Red Sea is due to inevitable passage through Suez Canal - that is passage and not an operation area. That is where tiny suicide boats can come close enough to you and ignite big bang between your legs.

Aircraft carrier needs few hundred km of clear sea where it has advantage that it's warplanes protects it before any hostile can come close. Today this range needs to be even bigger because anti-ship missiles have longer range than earlier days. Clear sea meaning no hostile ships / plane undetected and UN-engaged. This Taiwanese 600 ton corvette already carry an anti-ship missile exceeding 200km (Taiwan dreaming to have 400km version still), Chinese YJ-18 anti-ship is 600km when launched from bombers. Aircraft Carrier commanders during war won't want to be lesser than 500km from hostile landmass and if possible 800~900km. They fly AWAC above themselves to view upto 1000km for advance warning. Liaoning carries J-15 with combat radius 1100km approx. They can go out to hit landmass targets.

Unless PLA is invading Pearl Harbor or Tokyo or Ho Chi Minh City, then these operations would make carriers absolutely necessary. But NOT Taiwan. Idiots make themselves JOKE by trying to flatter themselves. They totally lack military basic knowledge. DPP baboons!

PLA is in the production process to make several of these. But these are not aircraft carriers. They are just amphibious assault ships - they combined tanker chamber and helicopter decks. They are supposed to get close to Taiwan but only after knocking out their ability to hit these assets, no risk will be taken. That means these will not be appearing within strike range of Taiwanese missiles, warship and warplanes, until clearing out these threats with long range invasive assets like ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, bombers, long-range MLR rockets etc. These will have to get very close to coast - how close depending on how much Taiwanese firepower remains on shore (artlliery guns & tiny missiles/rockets). The closer they get to coast give landing troop a shorter fighting distance and give assaulting/landing helicopters a shorter back-forth flights.

The rear of these warship release either hovercrafts or amphibious landing combat vehicles which carries marines.

When shore enemy already lack heavier weapons to fire, these type 075 can go as close as 1km to shore. When shores are too hot and risky they can stay 10km off shore and let attack helicopters & combat landing tanks off into the sea. This way will flood the sea full of targets that shore cannot adequately fire upon. In the case of Taiwan landing, any heavier air assault can be provided directly from mainland instead of from aircraft carriers, because mainland is so near, why bother to use carriers?

Type 075 amphibious assault ships, must be based and loaded way further from Fujian coast, and ideally from around Guang Dong or HK or ZheJiang e.g. TaiZhou where lots of landmass assets like airbases & air defense cover them. They get loaded for the landing and travel safely along mainland coastline towards Taiwan protected by landmass based assets while other forces clear away threats on Taiwan island that could hit these amphibious landing ships. That is for the initial phase of war.

In subsequent phases, after initial landing forces (Marines) secured land areas in Taiwan island, the subsequent landing forces (Army not Marines now) will be transported close to coast using HSR, and type 075 will ferry them over to secured ports. When they further secured airport in Taiwan, air transport will bring in more army safely - with even civilian chartered airliners. When ports in Taiwan are fully secured, heavy ships will bring the most heavy armament assets via sea using slow cargo ships which are civilian chartered. These include big radar and heavy tanks and combat engineering bridges etc.

Taiwan is a rather soft target for PLA. They got ZERO combat experience, Bapok troops alike SAF. Sissy commanders alike SAF BGs. Their political leadership proven to have ZERO MILITARY KNOWLEDGE & SKILL. Their weapons are so weak and outdated. They have no alliance nor capable friends to help them and Dotard is most likely to betray them like a pussy. If PLA want to lure Dotard into a war @ Taiwan they have to plot a big ruse nicely and use political strategy to compel Dotard to get involved. In the worse case have to fire missile upon Pearl Harbor or Okinawa US bases or Guam to force Dotard for combat engagement. These will force the foxes out of their holes cannot hide any more.

Type 075 is 40,000 tons smaller than Liao Ning. It's role require it to take higher risk than aircraft carriers hence not wise to make it too huge and make more numbers of it instead to avoid heavy losses when hit. It does not carry expensive assets like fighter jets and AWACs & Transporters nor anti-submarine helicopters usually - unless converted to a heavy anti-submarine air hub during a major submarine warfare conflict.

In poorer countries like Japan they will attempt to DOUBLE ROLE these amphibious assault ships as mini-quasi carriers using vertical take off and landing jets. Which is very limited and hard-pressing desperation. Taiwan is even poorer than Japan, hence failed completely to understand the differences.

Taiwan is confused between amphibious assault ships and way more expensive aircraft carriers, I think due to the common characteristic that carriers can also carry some marines but then only way is to land them using helicopters, to launch combat vehicles from aircraft carriers you need to use helicopters as well, not like amphibious landing ships carriers do not have a landing dock chamber. This is a huge chamber which can be flooded if necessary or dry - controlled by batch and ballast tanks on board. Amphibious landing vehicles / combat boats / hovercrafts can easily access the sea via huge water tight exit hatch, and drained by pump to dry. This way actually is 10X more efficient and FASTER + CHEAPER to launch amphibious landing assault. Compared with aircraft carriers using expensive helicopters, which often they need to hoist the vehicles below copters and yet still limited to just light vehicles. One copter per vehicle is expensive, to have just afew copters making round trips is also slow.

To highlight the big difference between aircraft carrier vs amphibious assault ship styles of landing of marines:

Aircraft carriers almost solely rely on helicopters to insert marines VS amphibious assault ships' main bulk of insertion is via landing dock chamber / tanker while helicopters' role more on giving air firepower support for the landing than transporting troops.

Aircraft carriers style inserts marines typically deeper into an inland landing zone other than a beach, it needs that landing zone to be quite safe instead of hot, to allow copters to ferry the insertion forces in multiple trips typically, it is stealthy and more surprised move not alarming enemy at 1st VS amphibious assault ships' style typically force landing on a hot hostile beach head facing WW2 D-Day type of live or die hard-fight, against garrison which had been alerted and awaiting to fight. Large number of armored tanks or personnel carriers which are themselves amphibious and designed to fight their ways from sea towards inland.

In a major major operation alike WW2 D-Day (Normandy), they will need a combination of both aircraft carrier & amphibious assault ships:

Deeper inland insertions to secure bridges & cut-off reinforcement from arriving at landing zones. Jets and bombers from carriers to cover air superiority and close air support. The amphibious assault ships and LST (landing ship tanks) will put heavy vehicles on the beaches which are hot zones.

But D-Day model is the EXACT REVERSED of 武统台湾 because D-Day landing was done from British Islands towards European Continental landmass. 武统台湾 from mainland to Taiwan island. Hence the advantages / disadvantage are totally reversed. In 武统台湾 aircraft carriers don't really have a marine insertion role to play because the mainland landmass and land combat resources are so near.

PLA's in-land insertion would use 2 other alternative forces instead of marines 海军陆战队 (under PLA Navy):

  • Airborne Division 空降兵军 (under PLA Air Force)
  • Heli-borne Assault Brigades 空中突击旅 (under PLA Army)

In my own view, their strategy will be to act after Rocket Army and Air Force bombed the shit out of Taiwan until it is quite reasonably softened to safely land them - paratroopers & helicopter carried brigades. The target is nothing to do with beach heads. But central rural areas of Taiwan island, they will from there move to section and divide Taiwan into a dozen of isolated zones, and prevent Taiwan forces to freely move across their isolated zones.

1st step of that is Rocket Army / Air Force / Long Range MLR rockets to cut up rail roads into many disconnected sections (bombed rail bridges), bombed away minor road bridges, and occupying major road bridges using Paratroopers and helicopter brigades. At very beginning both sides of bridge must have at least 500m of fully controlled zone. Mines put on bridge and airborne light tanks securing both sides.


In this way Taiwan will become at least a dozen of totally isolated pockets or zone, Taiwanese troop cannot move across to help any other side (if they were not already killed by Rocket Army & PLA bombers & MLR rockets). The marines will land in only some of these zones, and Taiwanese command center is unable to move troops from zone that don't face beach landing assault to help the zone that are facing beach landing assault. They can not transport fuel / ammunition nor any equipment. Rivers with bombed and occupied bridges lock them down clamped their blood veins.

Inland insertion forces also will occupy airports and ports and transport hubs, fresh water reservoirs & water treatment plants, power grid (if not bombed already) food and strategic material depot e.g. fuel depots, ammunition depots, satellite earth stations. Essential Road Intersections / cross roads.

In general graphite bombs will knock out all power gird and communication hubs


Once after this stage of insertion of forces, it is to deal with each isolated pockets of resistance and they are expected to either surrender or get killed or beaten out of action (AWOL / DESERTION / INJURED / OUT OFF AMMO / FUEL / FOOD) The inserted troops secured areas for more reinforcement to land including heavier weapons. Bombers and Rocket Army help to reduce these pockets of resistance into dust ASAP.

Pockets of resistance will become reduced in their sizes and numbers within short time.

The strength of Taiwan's Navy is less than 10% of PLA Navy. There is no proportional chance at all. if they got any chance to survive and surrender alive that chance is only a gift granted at PLA's mercy. Their warships regardless of models and locations can be all totally sunk within the 1st 30 mins of combat as long as 武统台湾 order is issued by Beijing. EVERY Warship is instantly located and tracked by satellites. PLA Rocket Army can sink any ship globally like that without optimizing cost - using ballistic missiles with satellite live tracking. The cost to do this on Taiwanese navy is much lower because at the most needs DF-11 is enough to handle.

This newest 600 ton corvette is a tiny insignificant target and using DF-11 is quite wasteful. There are more than 10 ways to do it depending which unit of PLA handles. If PLA Navy Coastal Defense Unit they will use e.g. YJ-62 JY-83, if warships may use YJ-18, if Air Force bomber use e.g. YJ-12, Helicopters use JJ/TL-6B

As mentioned previously PLA said they assigned helicopters for this job, these small light antiship missiles are sufficient to sink a 600 ton corvette. YJ class are for bigger warships / carriers. Rocket Army is even more way over kill.
