Wow, what can I say. The first two years were period of adjustments. The morning commute was most trying because we had one kid who was attending public school and had to be there before 7.15am and it felt that like a million other parents were also trying to get their kids to school on time. So we spent a lot of time on the road in the morning although the evening rides were less frantic. But we also had parents and PIL whose homes were open to our kids whenever they could not come home because of school activities and that was a real life saver for all.
Once my son finished O levels and started Poly, and my eldest daughter girl left for Sydney for uni, we had a much better morning commute. My husband and I have flexi work hours (we didn't have to be in the office nor leave it at certain times) and that helped us a lot.
In general though, we all love living in JB. We like that our house here is low density but we have made friends with our neighbours and invite each other over for any makan sessions. I have made good friends from two neighbours who are very helpful and we are each other sounding board and help lines.
We are still enjoying exploring different makan areas and we have made a target to try hiking - some friends have said were some areas which are beautiful for nature walks.
I can see ourselves living here for a while more
