SINGAPORE – A night club at St James Power Station had its public entertainment licence suspended after the police arrested 11 people at the premises for suspected vice-related activities.
On Dec 4, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department and Clementi Police Division conducted an operation at a club along Sentosa Gateway and arrested nine women and two men aged between 21 and 54.
TODAY understands that the club is Rupee @ St James – Bollywood Gentlemen’s club.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a vice syndicate has been using the club to operate and provide sexual services to its clients. It booked the services of the women through the management of the club for fees between S$500 and S$1,000.
These women, who are work pass holders, are suspected to have made use of their stay in Singapore to commit the vice-related offences, police said in a media release on Monday (Dec 11). Investigations are ongoing.
The club is the first outlet to be suspended under the enhanced regulatory powers of the Public Entertainments Act since its revision on August 1.
In a Facebook post on Friday (Dec :sunglasses:, the club claimed that it will be temporarily closed till Dec 31 “due to upgrading works”.
“An exciting 2018 awaits you with more first class Bollywood Entertainment,” read the club’s post. “In the meantime, Rupee St James is available for private event reservations and bookings.”
