Chitchat Jetfuel is a hoax. Look at this mini jet engine...

It is very true what you have said. Air and fuel are burnt in its proper stoichiometric ratio to produce thrust. At the moment this applies to all airplane engines and to claim otherwise is quite foolish.

Goh Choon Phong - The man who is destroying SIA

Epstein and Sullenberger are well respected pilots for their unquestioned abilities....and in Sully's case for his humility and approachable manner.

Goh Choon Phong - The man who is destroying SIA

In some of the airlines, Korea and to a lesser extent the Thais there is a very strict and rigid hierarchy in the cockpit. The authority gradient is very steep and the copilots and junior Captains would very rarely dare voice out their concerns when the Commander does a course of action or makes...

Goh Choon Phong - The man who is destroying SIA

Almost all the ex air force pilots make the grade when they move on from military to commercial flying. Some find the transition easier than others and many are doing well as instructors and management pilots. Their military flying whether fighters or transport, develops their handling skills...

Goh Choon Phong - The man who is destroying SIA

Yes ESND....you are basically correct. The younger pilots in SIA are a mix of former SAF pilots, ab initios and inexplicably foreigners ( but thankfully not so many). Many of the ex Airforce pilots move into commercial flying these days ....you see them in SIA, Scoot and even more so in...

This is correct. When the windsock is horizontal = 15 kts. When the windsock is limp like a spent condom = 0 kts. Wind values in between are indicated by those segments.

Chitchat It was AIR INDIA that inspired founding of SIA and Cathay Pacific..

You are correct....in the late 70s SIA sent personnel to help Air Lanka get started. The people sent were mostly from Flight Operations...pilots and flight engineers. Cabin crew sent some training personnel too. It was a good time to go there before the Tamil Tigers started acting up in earnest.

Chitchat It was AIR INDIA that inspired founding of SIA and Cathay Pacific..

Not Air India but British Airways. Most of MSA's and by extension SIA's manuals in almost all the departments eg Marketing, HR ( Personnel ) etc were derived from BA's manuals. Flight operation's manuals were mainly American because of the all Boeing fleet but policies were greatly influenced by BA.

Serious SIA retrenches 12% of pilots, Chinese airlines hire them for US$25k a month, huat ah!

Re: SIA retrenches 12% of pilots, Chinese airlines hire them for US$25k a month, huat To get to Australia for $200 is a good deal of course but be wary of certain budget airlines. The budget should stop at the cockpit door. Bringing the 'budget' into the cockpit would mean compromising on...
