Running a 5km in 25 minutes

5km. I did the national schools cross-country route - 1st half in jungle, 2nd half along Lornie Rd

There's a group of runners called MR25 (MacRitchie 25) - to join you have to run 5km in under 25 min
Cross country is more difficult than running in the stadium
To avoid injury, I only run on stadium red track, with plastic floor

Some people can tell others that he could run 10km in 60 minutes

However, when people told him that they can run 5km in 32min , he started to discourage people

I normally do road-running. Treadmill too monotonous; track also boring, have to count laps (25 laps for 10km!)

Yah, runner's knee. The knee cap cartilage gets injured from repetitive high impact. Trying using shoes with a flat sole, land on your midfoot instead of heels, shorten your strides, and slow down the pace. Slow jogging is best, esp for beginners.
I saw a doc . Only rest +plaster. Then ask me to stop. For running shoes I alternate between kayano , ultraboost ,novaspeed, nimbus and carbon plate meta if going long distance. I did 2xu 21km 2hr 28min. Feel easier but toe hurts.

Need to be realistic. What purpose of comparing and want to prove. Every season runner will know it bullshit

Started running 16 years ago after tearing my left quadriceps; never stopped since. Used to do gym but no cardio. Am a lot fitter nowadays.

If you have a mental block about running, do Japanese slow jogging - you get the cardio benefits of running without the high impact injuries.

Can target this in zone 1
Very slow speed but high cadence and running at zone 1

This is my running speed
I already very serious to exercise before I had the watch
Then I purposely slowed down to train zone 2

After 3 months that I see improvement and not tired and my speed is better than in Feb
I took me at least 6 months.

I don't want to lose weight. I am at 82 /180
I want the size.
Then combine running with resistance exercise. Building muscles will keep your resting metabolism high which will control your body fat level.

Nowadays I run twice a week, and do gym work once a week.

U do road or park. I think East Coast and corny island waterway is good except for too many cyclists
Road. I measure the route on Google Maps to get exact distance before doing a run. Much less boring running along the road in my estate.

Haha me too. I used Google measure on road and park. For stadium I will count the rounds. I will set a goal of how many rounds then on timer. If usual casual run I can get estimate distance base on the time run. Usual is 7-8 min/ km. Recently maintained at 7min for 5km abit tough for me.

What do you think of carbon soled shoes... Hype, or make you efficient and faster?

If you're older, do yoga, pilates and golf (driving range).

More people are playing pickleball these days, young and old.
