To contribute more to the tax pool, buy 3 packets of cigarette everyday. To thank the Good Hands, be a grassroots volunteer (de woh).

It's upbringing. @True Believer will you deny?
It is difficult to escape the conclusion that the Son of Dunearn is something of a snob. His recurring jabs at HDB dwellers, particularly those who aspire to own private property but lack the means to do so, suggest an almost compulsive need to advertise his own success. Far from being casual observations, these remarks appear intended to reaffirm his social standing and to derive satisfaction from highlighting the financial limitations of others.

However, snobbishness is seldom the result of an inferior upbringing. On the contrary, it is often rooted in privilege. In his case, his affluent background—wealthy parents with landed property, and an education associated with Barker Road and Kent Ridge—has clearly shaped his worldview. These advantages have translated into his current position: living in a prime district and counting himself among the small proportion of Singapore’s population able to afford a car.

Coming from privileged background nothing to be proud about cos not 白手起家. In fact, the person ought to be more humble because if not for his or her previous generation, he will be no different from ordinary average ses sinkies.

I'm not sure you're conflating "feeling proud" with "showing off." Pride concerns what a person values inwardly; showing off concerns how a person presents himself outwardly. The two often coincide, but they are not identical. To say someone comes across as boastful is an observation about behavior. To say he is proud of his achievements or background is a claim about his inner disposition. The former may be evident from his writings; the latter requires a degree of mind-reading.

You're also introducing an implicit comparator: the idealized figure who is 白手起家. By measuring him against that standard, you're not evaluating him on his own terms but against a third party you've constructed for the comparison. In effect, the argument is not simply that he is privileged; it's that his achievements are less worthy because someone else, imagined or real, achieved success without those advantages. That may be a legitimate value judgment, but it is a different claim altogether.

Lol...u clearly don't have any rich friends who were born in privilege. U think he needs to be sucking cock in some corporation and boasting that he drives a better car than his boss? He will be the boss!
