Historians have already discarded the hadiths as untruths and without basis.
There is a growing evidence that just as the arab territories were expanding, the core got corrupted, and eventually pursued and annihilated the true muslims who were at the frontiers trying to spread the news of a liberating faith.
Hence you cannot find any written document on mohamed until 200 years after his death. The hadith turned what was a truly liberating faith into just another religion. All written account of mohamed was destroyed and rewritten by the looks of it.

Go to look up the Birmingham Qur'an. Carbon dated to almost the end of Prophet Muhammad's life.

The hadiths are also transmitted verbally and written in various forms.Most of it was collated later as it is more voluminous.

These are historians conclusion. Its based on very little evidence they found so far. Nobody made any comments on the quran. Its just the hadith and sunnahs that are questionable.
Carbon dating only gives the age of the parchment used to write the quranic script. It could be made during the time of mohamed but the script could be written much later. So far nobody able to carbon date the ink used to write on scripts accurately.
