Those who intend to kill themselves might as well do one last good thing. Such as rape Ho Ching and cut off her cheebye.

WHY the MRT accident and stoppage not announced in the radio and TV so that commuters can make alternative arrangements ???

SINGAPORE: A man died after he was run over by a train near Kallang MRT station on Thursday night (Feb 25), said SMRT.

"At about 9pm, a train captain reported hitting an object near Kallang MRT station. Our station manager was sent on track and found a motionless man, about 150m from (the) station," said the transport operator in an update to a Facebook post it made late Thursday night.

The incident occurred on the East-West Line towards Pasir Ris, it said.

"As a result of this incident, train services were suspended between Bugis and Aljunied stations in both directions. Lavender and Kallang stations were closed."

The person was later pronounced dead, added SMRT.

"We convey our deepest condolences to the family," the train operator said.

At about 10 minutes to midnight, 16 people from various agencies were seen on the train track.

A white screen had been put up near the end of the train.

Police officers could be heard telling others not to move the body and to wait for the K-9 dog unit to arrive.

"SMRT Care Team is on the ground to assist our staff and the family members of the deceased when identified," it added.

CNA saw a stationary train on the track near Kallang MRT station, with people walking along the side with flashlights.

Several police cars, an ambulance and SCDF fire trucks were also seen outside the station.

An eyewitness said he was on a train that left Lavender MRT station when it "almost immediately halted and began to reverse slowly".

"After about five minutes, passengers were told to alight as there was some obstacle on the track," he told CNA. "Everyone got off and when they announced that another train was stuck at Kallang, everyone started exiting the station."

SMRT first tweeted an alert at about 10pm, saying there was no train service between Bugis and Aljunied due to "an incident", adding that free regular bus and bridging services are available between the two stations.

In its Facebook update, it said in-train and station announcements were made to advise commuters to seek alternative travel options.

"SCDF and the police were immediately activated. We are assisting the police with their investigations," said SMRT.

In a Facebook post, Labour Member of Parliament Melvin Yong said that the National Transport Workers' Union has reached out to the affected rail workers and will ensure that they receive "the necessary mental and emotional support".

I was at Chinatown on CNY eve, the ox statue and the decorations were still lit. It was around 10pm.

If you're of the 'superstitious' persuasion, I think the fate was sealed when they cancelled the 'poke joss stick' countdown event outside the Waterloo Street temple.

But wait! It gets worse!

On the ninth day of CNY (20 Feb, Sat), the Hokkien pagans pray to the Jade Emperor. I happened to pass by the iconic temple at Havelock Road. The temple was closed and all the offerings (rice cakes, flowers etc) were placed on the floor outside the closed door. People were standing outside to pray, some even standing on the road (not enough space, there is also a railing between the road and the pavement now).

The new normal of safe management practices, all because the godless PAP technocrats want to 'keep you safe'.

I am waiting to see more scandal popping up from PAP camp. I hope Ivan Lim is not the last PAP entertainment show.

If someone can just freely enter the tunnel to commit suicide....what is stopping some maniac from entering the tunnel to place bombs instead.

For placing bombs, no need to enter the tunnel, just need a normal train ride like the other commuters. :sneaky:
