Betting big on this Ah Neh

Sure to collapse... Indians no hope for buying... look at their street foods...

This guy ambani gave free data and destroyed the entire India telecom industry. He more or less controls the entire country mobile service.
So now he wants to control retail like Amazon and Ali baba. I bet he will win.

Facebook’s April announcement that it would invest $5.7 billion for a stake in Mumbai-based Jio was quickly followed by $750 million from Silver Lake and $1.5 billion from Vista Equity Partners. On Sunday, Jio said it was raising $870 million from another private-equity powerhouse, General Atlantic.

The deals help Reliance, which had a net debt of about $21 billion as of the end of March, replenish its war chest as it expands into new digital offerings.

In a country where the average income is about $150 a month, Mr. Ambani has an estimated net worth of about $37 billion—a fortune about one-third less than Facebook chief Mark Zuckerberg’s but more than Tesla Inc.’s Elon Musk

hmm... was thinking of going in. So you advise against it?
don't listen to arm chair critics or LKY typos who went into suzhou thinking he had everything figured out ...rule number 1 know yourself and know your enemies, sun Tzu...
meaning you must know and feel the ground realities not sitting pretty in your office ...when I was in charge of a few hundred men and controlled matters from SG ,when a local called i knew exactly what he actually meant when he says certain things ...it's highly critical for decision making ..because I walked every inch of the ground and know the realities

and fortunes are made by daring to go where others feared .not foohardly I mean

myself traded pretty well with India and Indians and the golden ruled was to know 3 communities and their idiocraciez...Brahmins, if you want to deal with burecracy and red tapes ..Marawaris, they control almost all industries and Gujaratis ,traders but quite dicy ...my trick was befriend them before business and beleive me it worked not only in India but also elsewhere

but i am talking about many moons ago and things might have changed with the current Indian IT generation

now,the Ambain chap @syed putra talked about screwd his own lil brother both of whom split their fathers wealth equally...it shows how competitive and cut throat business in India can be ...it's very very very comparative to live as anybody in India, i reckon ...that is why CECA Indians can suvive in any climate anywhere...it's just like introducing snake head fishes in US ...in no time local species got wiped out against a fish that can walk in the land and survive without water for long

imagine doing business in India likewise ...Indian locals also face the same difficulties like foreigners do ...only the fittest survive .

many thanks for the summary. quite informative.

your rule 1 is good. Your walking every inch of the ground to know realities is even better. line between daring and foolhardy is quite thin.

yes, I see the ambanis and question why the whole country so poor yet these two are ridiculously rich. only conclusion must be they very hiong.

Sowell the economist will say to look at the data. Past history.and get the actual facts.
yeah with those numbers, I'm more than happy. But there are a lot of intangibles that make or break that will never be captured by data. The human and cultural element is one big piece of info I'm missing. I'm going to make a trip there to find out for myself. but was wondering if it is even worth the trip or is a totally lost cause?

yes trips are must but not a week long one just once ...you have to stay put for a month or several short trips before you can come to conclusion ...it's not only India but almost all othet third world countries too...each trip will unearth that contradicts the previous ...what is said can have several interpretations...provincial government and central government are usually not in the same page
