Where are the masks? To believe masks do not help is foolish. The virus spreads even without any symptom therefore what policy is that to only wear mask if you are sick. Spread virus spread.

Please join the queue...other demands still not being met yet eg Swiss standard of living, CPF withdrawals etc etc

I have given up on getting masks for myself, though I am still hunting high and low for disposable surgical masks for young children. Just want to make sure my daughter is adequately protected.

Why take the risk? Masks don't do much in fact they can make things worse. Lock her in her room and feed her through an air lock.

If she has to leave the house make sure she has her own sterile air supply and is fully isolated from the outside world via barrier protection.

Why are you attacking me? Is it wrong for me to want to protect my young daughter?

Not attacking I'm trying to help. Masks alone are not enough. I'm sure you want to reduce the risk to your daughter to the barest minimum so allowing her out in public with just a mask as protection is not sufficient especially when it is hard to stop young children from rubbing their eyes and touching their face.

Half hearted, symbolic gestures often do nothing to help all they do is give a false sense of security. Go the whole hog.

You are a nasty person.

It wouldn't hurt you showing some empathy.

I have shown more empathy than anyone else in this forum. While others are just trying to protect their own interests I have been trying to put out the message that the ridiculous and unnecessary measures to contain the virus are doing more harm than good to the majority of people.

I am in contact with a couple of people in Europe who have family members with the virus and they are doing fine and on the road to recovery. Symptoms were minor despite the fact that one was 67 years old.

On the other hand I have first hand knowledge of almost a dozen of my friends or colleagues that have had their income wiped out from cancelled events plus those who were supposed to pay them have not done so because they're claiming they have no money and this is in NZ where there have been less than 10 cases.

If schools are closed they will be even worse off because then they either have to pay caregivers to look after the children so they can go to work or they'll have to stop going to work. Not everybody in the world has a live in maid to take care of things.

So to those who demand action from their government to shut down the whole country spare a thought for others who aren't as fortunate as you are and need the economy to carry on ticking over in a normal manner as possible so they can put food on the table for their precious children.

Empathy in sammyboy?

I give you some.. you can find surgical masks at $45 for 50 pieces at Gadget Mix. Whether you willing to pay the price is another question.

Thanks for the info. May I know which outlet?

Shutting down is only temporary. It's just a disruption for the good of everyone else breathing the same air, using the same shared train, bus, supermarket etc. No one is asking for permanent shutdown forever. You are a making a mountain out of a molehill over a temporary disruption.

Most of them, I have seen them past few days. Masks and hand sanitizer, but adult size, it's not easy to find kids size masks...

KNN recently my uncle shared a post on reusing of surgical mask https://www.sammyboy.com/threads/things-that-pharmaceutical-companies-didnt-want-you-to-know.279650/
His latest discovery on the current sg weather is that just perform the step 3 - sun tan it any virus or bacteria confirmed will be killed KNN can skip step 1 and 2 becas it will damage it KNN but best for each family member to wear back their own tanned piece KNN (no pun intended with disclaimer for current sg weather only KNN)

How do you define "temporary"? I have already stated elsewhere that 2 weeks would be tolerable but in my opinion more symbolic than useful. If you shut down for 2 months a lot of businesses are going under. I know this because I am seeing it happen with my own eyes. The only thing that would save them would be rent free premises for the period of the shut down, employees willing to work for next to nothing, suspension of power bills, tax bills etc.

If you have not run a business you won't know just how difficult it is to meet all the overheads, keep creditors happy while making sure your debtors pay you on time. When things go downhill the first thing that happens is that you don't get paid even though you have already shipped the products or provided the service.

It is easy for those civil servant types and army generals who collect a fat salary to talk about shut downs but for those who live in the real world it is a different kettle of fish.
