Japan closes Disneyland and Universal Studio. Why is Singapore's USS, Zoo etc still open? There is something that is not right about our approach.....

That's where the government should help. Not closing and letting the virus spreading community wide will kill many of us. Do you want your family members, relatives and friends to sacrifice their lives for inaction?
Methinks you have to come to this realization that Covid-19 is here to stay. Hysteria will not help and the virus will not kill many(unfortunately). There were not too many farkups by the G and yes they could have communicated better. IMHO, they've done all they could and the rest is up to us.

And shut the mosque on Friday.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 11): The Health Ministry director-general Noor Hisham Abdullah has confirmed that a 60-year-old Malaysian man from Pahang, who had attended a religious gathering at a mosque in Seri Petaling here, was tested positive for COVID-19.
Classified as 'Case 131' the man had attended the "ijtimak tabligh" event at the Seri Petaling Mosque from Feb 28 to March 1.
More than 10,000 people from several countries had attended the religous event. About half the attendees were Malaysians.
Among the attendees was the 53-year-old Bruneian man who was later confirmed to be Brunei's first COVID-19 case when he was tested after returning home.
Noor Hisham in a Facebook post said Case 131 who returned to Pahang started to experience symptoms of fever, cough and flu on March 4 before having shortness of breath on March 8 and was admitted to Bentong Hospital the same day.
He was then referred to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan on March 9. The COVID-19 detection test taken for this case was confirmed positive on March 10. He has already been sent to the isolation ward and is receiving treatment.
Noor Hisham advised those who attended the "ijtimak tabligh" event to immediately contact the district health office or contact the CPRC hotline.

How could that be? I thought you've been saying all along that Muslims are immune? No?

Lol,there's a global shortage world wide.

It doesn't matter. You wore a pink shirt, got in front of the tv cameras and said that mask supplies were adequate. What happened in other countries is irrelevant.

That's dishonesty, to put it mildly.

And oh, not forgetting that little stunt of getting NS boys to pack four masks for each household.

not only not close they even offered discount and encourage sinkies to visit these places

It won't kill MANY it will kill a small handful. However if the whole economy tanks there'll be a lot of broken rice bowls, the unemployment rate will sky rocket and the fallout will be far worse with many bread winners in the prime of their lives committing suicide or possibly taking their loved ones with them.

The coronavirus on the other hand only kills the old and they don't have that many more years anyway so the sacrifice is far smaller.

Bloody waste of time and money. Face masks do nothing to protect against the coronavirus.

There are plenty of inconsiderate people coughing and clearing their throats openly on the tube without covering their mouths. It is imperative to wear a mask to guard against those filthy twats.

Yes. This is why masks are important. The government is understating the importance of mask for reasons only known to themselves.

So now you want the nanny state to nanny everyone even further including enforced diaper changes and daily inspections to make sure boys and men retract their foreskins and wash the glans penis properly in order to reduce the risk of penile cancer.

https://moffitt.org/cancers/penile-cancer/causes/

Other research has helped medical professionals determine that:

  • Penile cancer is not genetic. Certain inherited traits can make a man more likely to develop cancer in his lifetime, but cancer is not passed down from parent to child.
  • Penile cancer is not infectious. Men who have penile cancer cannot catch cancer from, or transmit the disease to, his sexual partners.
  • Poor genital hygiene may partially contribute to the development of penile cancer, especially among uncircumcised men. Physicians recommend that uncircumcised men retract the foreskin to clean the entire penis, taking special care to remove smegma and other secretions on a regular basis.

It's a matter of supply chain logistics. There is a global shortage and Singapore has been caught off guard. Too bad for all of us. In order to prevent a catastrophic failure of our supply chain, PAP MInisters have to convince people to chance it in public without using them. So far, they have met with considerable success. Singaporeans heed their advice well and obey.

If there is insufficient masks, why don't they admit it from day one and implement work from home measures, cessation of public events and gatherings from day one. This will reduce intermingling and reduce demand for mask.

Macau is a role model. They closed down casinos, practiced social distancing, and implemented universal masking. They did not have a single new case of WuFlu for one whole month despite literally having the privilege of being closest neighbour to China in parallel with Hong Kong.

They must have gold standards too! Maybe platinum better still!

As Long as Geylang remains open all is good. No locals go to zoo and garden by the Bay. Let those tourists go get infected.

Covid-19 is here to stay for the forseeable future until a workable vaccine is found. It isn't about 21 days, 30 days or 69 days shutdown. It's a pandemic and even if you embark on a deep cleansing exercise across the city, you'll never be able to rid of it.
Services is a sizeable component of GDP and employment. The G cannot be a nanny to every individual or company but yes I agree they could help.

Hindsight is always 20/20. Even if they made masks available to the public or better still send them to their homes, some would still insist not to wear them. Putting them behind bars is not an option as you will need all the islands combined to house them.
