I am thinking of investing in a pair of casual shoes. Dr Martens and Timberland look very similar. Which is a better brand ?

As for Dr Martens, does anyone know if it's possible at all to replace the sole ?

I am looking for a design like this:

Red Wing Oxford series, 0909043-0, or Red Wing Postman series. Best non slip soles, can send back to Red Wing for refurbishment. Timberland is crap and over rated.

For doc martens, get the UK made soles, not the china made ones. There were shoes made in a collaboration between doc and an Italian maker if I remember correctly, now no more.

Timberland and Doc Martens are both over-priced, overrated, and of questionable quality. Especially in Singapore where prices are 60% to 100% higher than in the States (Timberland) and UK (Doc). I've owned several pairs of both, so I know what I'm talking about. My pet peeves are the uncomfortable fit, and soles that separate and split open when worn frequently in wet weather or at the beach.

Get a pair of Sperry Topsider deck shoes. American-made, good quality, decent price.

Good choice. I know dumbfucks bengish timberland fans who actually told me sperry's is too overpriced for an 'obscure' brand. I prefer it that way as its not so common. Another brand in the same category would be sebago. These are well made comfortable shoes timeless design and built to last.

I got my first pair of docs more than 25 years ago. It was a 'sample' given by 2 friends who was the first to import the brand to Sg. They studied in England and predicted correctly the shoes would be a huge hit. They made millions from the business. I remembered hanging out at their office/warehouse in Henderson then to check out the latest designs. They were made in UK and retailing at $79 per pair at the stores. The shoes lasted like forever.
Red wings were also good. I particularly liked the way they measured your feet before trying on the shoes. They had width sizing which then the only other brand that did so was new balance. As a schoolboy I had to save for months before I could afford my first pair....before that would window shop at their shop then in Far East plaza

I have a pair of Dr Martens, more than 10 years old. The sole is translucent and I bought it at a time when Dr Martens was at Centrepoint (if I remember correctly) and before they OEM their products in China.

I was hoping that sports brand like Nike or Adidas would come out with designs like Dr Martens and Timberland - casual but not sporty.

Scholl is a reliable brand. Used to own a pair of Scholl sandals, but the leather shoes are too old-school looking.

I'm looking for simple design, not the boat-shaped type:

The above design may be a little not so comfortable as its hard. I like these simple leather shoes design much more comfortable and has many colours to change according to mood.

My experience with Dr Martens, after a while the leather becomes soft and comfortable.

Somehow I just dislike those boat shaped looking shoes. Used to own some Bata type of boat-shaped shoes, but didn't feel good.

The original ones the designs were more or less standard.
Comfortable, good grip soles yet very tough even outlasted industrial safety boots. One complaint I have is they are heavier than normal shoes.
They dun make things like that anymore.

Rock port is ok. Comfortable and lasting. Choose the smart casual.
Dr martens I had was uncomfortable. Soles was not flexible and leather was tough. It hurts when you walk long distance.

Good job my fellow Chinese dog we chinks shouldn't be wearing ang moh shoes. We should be wearing chink shoes e you wearing them like me?

The only chink footwear brand considered well known is Feiyue.....forget about copycat Lining and 361
And that's only after French company bought them and reinvented the marketing with angmo celebs.
Once again proves chinks are scums who can't even hang on to a good thing and need angmo to realized the full potential

Good job my fellow Chinese dog in showing how only ang mohs can run our chink companies well. We chinks cannot even run a company
