A Singapore couple had a "uniquely Singapore" wedding on Sunday - with ceremonies in a church as well as a Taoist temple.

Mr Chung Kwang Tong, 30, is secretary-general of the Taoist Federation Youth Group while his wife Jacqueline Yip, 28, is Catholic.

Their wedding dinner guests included religious leaders from the Inter-Religious Organisation.

This wouldn't happen if the wife is a Protestant.

Her church will probably disallow her to get marry in the church and also the temple.

Not in the UK. They allowed Muslims to use churches for Friday prayers.

I am quite sure no catholic priest in Singapore will ever officiate a church or catholic wedding for non-catholic bride or groom.

groans and moans in the nuptial bed must be filled with prayers and chants.

You're wrong. They do. But there are conditions.

This is so sad as it shows the gal is confused about her own religion. There are many such lukewarm and ignorant Catholics and Christians around.

its not about being lukewarm or ignorant. it all boils down to the individual's beliefs.

The Roman Catholic Church recognizes and officiates weddings between an RC and non-RC spouse, on the condition that their children be brought up as RCs.

It's the Protestants, especially the fundamentalists and Evangelicals, who are much more conservative about marriages with non-believers.

I believe that it may be possible for a non-Catholic to marry a Catholic, provided he or she agrees that their children will be raised as Catholics.
