all you armchair people, satellites cannot stay stationary and hover to capture pictures. This isn't Star Wars.

geo-sync satellites are relatively "static" to a terrestrial footprint in relation to the rotation of the earth. that's why they are called geo-synchronous. within the class of geo-sync satellites, there are geo-stationary satellites. these geo-stat satellites are orbiting directly over the equator to stay "static" to its coverage on earth while following the earth's rotation. in sinkie terms, it's also known as "spot on." there's another kind of geo-sync satellites, and while orbiting in sync with earth's rotation, their orbits are offset or "inclined" to the earth's equator.

8000 people are killed on Malaysian roads annually. That's 2 plane loads per month.

The small number involved in this plane crash are nothing in comparison.

Don't compare apples to oranges.

Most car accidents are the result of human error.

You rarely die if your car malfunctions, can't say the same for Planes.

satellites still move. You cannot tell them to stay there forever. Unless you have all the money in the world to or try to defy Earth's spinning and gravity.

Flight MH370 - A possible location of the crash?

Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370) is a missing international passenger flight operated by a Boeing 777-200ER aircraft with 227 passengers and 12 crew members on board. Flight 370 departed Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 00:41 on 8 March 2014 for a scheduled six-hour flight to Beijing, China. Reports indicate that Subang Air Traffic Control Centre lost contact with the plane at about 01:22, while it was over the Gulf of Thailand, and the plane was reported missing at 02:40. As of 9 March 07:00 UTC the location of the impact is still unknown.

However a scan of the latest Terra/MODIS satellite image reveals a dark band in the South China Sea, located approximately at 6.1N 104.6E. The picture has been taken at 03:35 UTC on 03/09/2014 with a resolution of 250 meters.

of course everything in this universe moves. it depends on whether it moves relative to another object. for example, your flat is moving too relative to the earth's rotation. if you cannot grasp this basic physics concept, i worry about sinkie science education. :p

could be suicide also instead of accident. Remember the SilkAir incident, the pilot disconnected the recorder and the comms, then plunged the plane.

Should ban night flight.

Nobody can see it coming. Day flight ships around the water can witness planes exploded or beach goers can also see planes come down.

Singapore's Silkair with SIA can pull it off without tongue waging because they are smart and diligent. If you ask the MUDLASIA officer to pull off something like this, it would be difficult.

Missing Malaysia Airlines plane: Passengers using stolen European passports have Asian features, says Malaysia's home minister

PUTRAJAYA - The two passengers who used stolen European passports to board the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 were of Asian appearance, said Malaysia's Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, criticising border officials who let them through.

"I am still perturbed. Can't these immigration officials think? Italian and Austrian but with Asian faces," he was quoted by state news agency Bernama as saying late on Sunday.

An internal investigation on the Immigration Department has commenced following reports that two passengers were using stolen passports to board the missing flight.

Mr Zahid said the detailed investigation would give special attention to the department's Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) branch.

"We will conduct an internal probe, particularly on the officers, who were on duty at the KLIA Immigration counter during flight MH370.

"I am still puzzle how come (immigration officers) cannot think, an Italian and Austrian (passengers) but with Asian facial features," he told reporters.

Mr Zahid said the investigation was conducted by a special team, led by Immigration Department Director-General Aloyah Mamat, Bernama reported.

Currently no conclusion could be made pertaining to the issue as the investigation had only commenced once the actual passport holders claimed that their passports were stolen, he said.

Mr Zahid said it was difficult to determine the authenticity of an international passport that was being brought by a passport holder because not all countries used the biometric system and bar code as in Malaysia.

Civil Aviation Director-General Azharuddin Abdul Rahman in a media conference in Sepang on Sunday said that only two passengers had false passports to board flight MH370, which was its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

Both passengers involved had used the Italian and Austrian passports.

Flight MH370, with 227 passengers, including two infants, and 12 crew members was reported missing from the radar at 1.30 am on Saturday, about an hour after departing from KLIA.

The plane carried passengers from 14 countries, including 153 Chinese and 38 Malaysians.
