In Germany, it takes up to 4 years.
All advanced countries have respect for the trades.
But Singapore?
Is that you on the left?

The external walls of my house are bare red-bricked, after 15 years, they still look great!
In Singapore, plastering is used to cover up mistakes from brickie, and plastering is sooooo bad.
My Singaporean cousin came over to my house and saw the internal plastering, he almost want to hug the walls.
The trouble is that you cannot find such quality in Singapore. No one want to pay for it.
so is a bricklayer in SG a labourer?
He could well be because we have bricklayers in NZ who are laborers too. The skill is in getting everything square and defining the verticals. Once that is done, filling in the walls is straightforward and only requires the minimum of skills to follow a plumb line.
Instead of going round is circles, let's see what a few dictionaries say about the term "labourer" / "laborer
http://www.thefreedictionary.com/labourer
1. (Professions) a person engaged in physical work, esp of an unskilled kind

- a person doing unskilled manual work for wages:
u r going round in circles, not me.
i already told you that most bricklayers working in SG are foreigners, unskilled and unqualified. there are in SG because there are cheap.
the same goes for construction labour.
I fear for the integrity and safety of buildings in SG built by these unskilled foreign workers
However, I might add that as long as unskilled labor is used to construct non load bearing parts of the wall, the net result is more cosmetic than structural. If unskilled labor is given the job of mixing the proportions in the concrete and the plaster, then there could be a serious problem.

Singaporeans are angry because they are spoilt brats. They don't appreciate what a good life they have thanks to the PAP.
When you coming back to appreciate the good life here?
When you coming back to appreciate the good life here?
I'm back every 3 to 4 months and usually stay for between 2 to 4 weeks.
i hope he remains outside SG
why come to pollute SG?
I'm a director in a Singapore company. I need to pop by to make sure everything is in working order. I'm criminally liable for any deviation from the companies' act so I have to meet the accountants and the other directors periodically.
I try my best not to pollute the country. In fact, if there were more recycling stations, I'd be very happy.
since you come back frequently, i am surprised by your ignorance of the ground situation in SG
It's not ignorance. It's just that living in various countries has taught me that every place has its problems and every political system has its strengths and it's faults and that all politicians are the same the world over and that a change of government will never solve issues such as poverty.
I therefore view Singapore with a different perspective compared to someone who has lived and worked there all his/her life.
Before I had experienced life elsewhere, I felt exactly the same way you do about the PAP and the Lee family so I fully understand where you are coming from.
Now that I have a basis for comparison, I realise that Singapore isn't that bad after all. In fact, it is one of the better places I have had the honor of living and working in.
ah jo is dismay dat 2 many sinkielan peasants take mrt @ same time ...
