He was driving on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) towards the Pan-Island Expressway at about 1.20pm on Friday when he saw a car and a tipper truck colliding.

The 53-year-old self-employed man, who wanted to be known as Mr Lim, spotted a couple inside the burning car.

He rushed over and managed to pull the woman out through her window.

But there was not enough space on the driver’s side between the car and the truck to pull him out. And he could not be reached from the front passenger window.

Together with the truck driver, who wanted to be known as Mr Yang, 40, Mr Lim crawled into the car from the rear and managed to carry the unconscious driver to safety.

Less than three minutes after the rescue, there was an explosion and the entire car was engulfed in flames.

I really think we should give this brave man a National Award. How many of us would risk our lives to save the couple ? I think our Government and the People of Singapore should salate this Real Hero and publicly acknowledged his courage, selflessness and heroism. I salute him with all my heart! This is Singapore, not some Buddha land, the rules operate differently and so are definitions of heros and doing the right thing. According to sinkie definition, the savior did not do the right thing as he did not exercise maximum restraint. Such act of his is not praiseworthy at all. Local laws apply to local peasants. If you choose to stay just suck it up. Alternatively, u can go on to a strike or riot and see what happens. Don't be jealous of the treatment to foreigners in sg. Police are smart to practise maximum restraint. You can tust them to do that too in other times of trouble as the local peasants and their assets are not worth any risk to their lives. PM Lee did the right thing to praise the police.
