To be frank, I had better cover my own ass rather than relying on them.

I didn't trust them even before this Little India riot and now even more so. Look at the way they conducted the press conference. All looked like half-dead including Teo Chee Hean who was wearing a sweater. In time like this they have display real leadership by being on scene and taking questions in front of a riot vehicle not in a faraway cozy conference room. In time like this they must speak with harsh tones and show some grit and anger, not with soft tones that's being audible especially TCH who was slumping in a comfortable chair. Trust the police? You can go tell them to fuck themselves.

The Singapore police force are far better than the majority of the other law enforcement organisations around the world.

Are they perfect? Of course they aren't. We all make mistakes and make wrong assessments of volatile situations. Hindsight is always 20/20 but if you were on the ground, would you have done any better given the circumstances?

Passing judgement after the deed is easy. Putting yourself in the hot seat is a different kettle of fish altogether.

at first i don't have much confidence with the spf. this lack of confidence stemmed from my personal experience with them in an auto accident a couple of years ago in sg. i was a willing witness to an accident where a light truck reversed into a car. it was very obvious who was at fault as the truck missed a left turn and tried to reverse to get back to the left turning point. the car behind was caught off guard. when the police arrived, all four of them in the same car, they briefly looked at the scene, gave the victim a form to fill, and waved goodbye saying the form would settle everything, and drove off, all in less than 5 minutes. it was 12:30ish, and i was sure they had to rush for lunch.

after the riot, i change my mind about the spf. looking at the aftermath, only the perpetrator of the accident which caused the riot was killed, and the death was self-inflicted. the rest of the casualties were injured, but not critically. no other civilian nor rioter was killed. not a bullet or gas cannister was fired or water cannon used. only a few vehicles were molested. and the soc, other divisions and gurkhas did a fine job of containing the riot in hours. by dawn, damaged vehicles were removed, streets cleaned and everything was back to normal. it's a set of brand new anti-riot strategy and tactics never seen before on the planet. the spf has shown the world the way for a non-lethal and non-violent response to a blood-thirsty mob out for street justice. the macho bully way of cops in the west, commie cuntries and some third world nations is outdated, and they need to learn from the spf. instead of inflicting more bloodshed which may cause the riot to spread and persist, the spf has adopted the true ghandi, mandela and dalai lama spirit - be nice and non-violent in the face of threats and violence, and take refuge in solace and peace within oneself (in an ambulance if possible), and smile. ommmm......

look at the results. how many more lives have this tactic saved? :p

There is nothing to be trusted in all bodies run by and controlled by PAP bags of excrement and their maggots and cockroaches.

PAP IS HIDEOUS AND TOTALLY INCOMPETENT AND UTTERLY CORRUPT.
THEIR POISON GO INTO ALL THE BODIES THAT THEY RUN AND CONTROLL

IF 400 AH NEHS ON TODDY AND OVERTURN AND BURN 5 POLICE CARS AND BEAT UP 10 OF THEM 4000 SINKIES, 40,000 SINKIES CAN GET BACK OUR OWN COUNRTRY

Yes, by hiding in an Ambulance and running away like rats, the Police prevanted casualties.

Hiding and running away must now be part of their Orders..... hurray..... hopefully, the SAF will adopt running away as part of their training and stategy...... learn from the SPF....

One must not mix personal experiences with objective assessments. When someone you care for is harmed in some way, irrational emotions always cloud better judgement.

I've known mothers of axe murderers and vile rapists describe their children as angels and blame the police for the fact that their loved one has ended up in jail.

When judging an law enforcement organisation, you can't look at individual cases. You have to look at the bigger picture and the fact remains that Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates in the world and is the envy of other big cities in this regard.

The problem with Singaporeans is that they have been living in an almost perfect world for far too long. Riots involving a few hundred people happen in the suburbs of Auckland on a regular basis. First response teams have often been met with a barrage of beer bottles and other projectiles and have had to beat a hasty retreat before reinforcements with the appropriate gear are called in.

Let's not jump to ridiculous conclusions just because you don't like some politicians.

The poll results here very telling

If 400++ ahnehs on toddy can whack a bunch of policemen and overturn and burn their cars, think of what 4000 or 40,000 angry sinkies can do to the fucking PAP

Maybe it is time we think of getting back our own country

In the face of challenge by FT, maximum use of force necessary. Who owns this country? FT or sinkies? This no India province. Now soft talk, no use. Cowardice is undeniable.

remove the CP.

400 rioters cannot handle

police post open day time only

nite time closed

machiam nite time no crime like that

whenever any crime committed,

only know how to put up sign board asking for witnesses

salary they takes, expect member of the public to gv infos

better outsource the CP

Re: How Much We TRUST our POLICE?

<style></style>Here is an excerpt from the Malaysian Blogger.

*"NO HOLDS BARRED
Raja Petra Kamarudin

In the old days, if you failed your form three or LCE, you could become a police constable. A form five ‘dropout’ could become a trainee inspector and thereafter go on to become an inspector. Nowadays, the police are better educated than that. Many are university graduates and even have a law degree. But the policemen of the old days were respected, despite their lower education. Today, the police officers are despised, even how highly educated they may be. They no longer command the respect of the public.....What happened to change the public perception of the policeman? What transformed respect for the police officer into contempt? The long and the short of it is the public no longer trusts the police force...."*

That begets a question.

How much of trust do we have for our our own police force?

When you carry a gun, you fight to die with the gun in the line of duty. If you carry a gun and afraid to use it to maintain law and order, you are not fit to carry that gun. So, how much do you trust spf to defend you? See the riot.
