I'll soon have to replace my worn out swivel office chair. Thinking of getting an Aeron chair by Herman Miller but since I'm not the gov't I'll have to pay $$$ to the local distributor:(. I've seen them being sold at Amazon at a better price for around US$880

Has anyone bought one directly from the US
If you have, where did you order them from & how much did you pay?.

Dealers may be prevented from selling directly to overseas customers.. Has anyone used a freight forwarder like Singpost, Bordlinx,.... to order a chair:confused: Does the chair come pre- assembled or fully assembled i.e. how big is the box. Is it practical to send by air?

Thanks for the leads.

For anyone who's tried those chairs will appreciate the quality of those chairs. However the official dealer in Spore had a high markup unless of course you were the gov't

It's really a pity because if prices had been more in-line to US prices, people would have purchased from Spore instead of looking for alternatives.

I sit on one everytime i go to the lawyer's office. Dont see feel much difference

Try a mail forwarder from the US. shipito is what I used. There are "several" plans available. I used the cheapest which charges $8 for each item handled. You should be able to get Amazon to ship for free to the address in the US. However, depending on size, weight, your shipping charges from there may be high. It might actually turn out to be the same as how much the local distributor is charging. So do some calculation before you go ahead. Only time I used it was to get the peg- perego car seat that was not available here at all. Surprisingly, they gave you an address in 2 states in the US one in Hongkong and one in Shenzhen. So you can do the same for stuff from china as well.

You have to sit for long hours then you will appreciate the difference :)

There's also the question of longevity. They last:eek: I used to work at a MNC that used Herman Miller & the office furniture was recycled, hand me downs from the US office:o When the Philippine office was opened they got the older furniture, of course :D

i am looking for a leather office chair, any lasup brand also can, my current $50 office chair is killing my back...:o

I usually use a freight forwarder to get items that are not available locally in Spore. If the price discrepancy is small I don't mind paying retail prices in Spore. In fact I intended to get an Aeron chair from a local company many years ago. Back then there were several sources other than the famous Xtra, but the shop had moved/closed so I went with another product instead.

I've been considering getting chinese products but I've heard about all the scams. Until they clean up their act I prefer to pay more & avoid the hassles.

Anyone buying a chair for more than 400 is a bit siao lah

Leather is hot, so unless it's an aircon environment would advise against it.

Thats why the aeron uses a mesh like material. It allows the circulation of air.

My current chair already costs more than $400 & after years of use one of the rubber armrests is cracking. I can of course throw away & get another but I find it wasteful to throw things out. So I'm looking for something better even if I have to pay more. Am I siao? :o

I have a 8 year old $299 chair, and it's just a local brand. Those beds, mattresses which promotes good postures and cost thousands are bullshits.
