he no mor sugar king ...

He still is as Wilmar controls most of Aussie sugar and Robert Kuok has bought lots of plantations in Indonesia. He is George Yeo's boss now and someone who is very humble.

The Kuok Group (founded by Robert Kuok) is the organisation that former minister George Yeo is working for now.

Robert Kuok is a PRC govt lackey who decided to "return to his roots", invest huge sums in PRC and relocate his HQ to hong kong after making his initial fortune off the backs of the clueless bumiputera of Malaysia. Ungrateful overseas Chinese like him are what makes the indigenous people of southeast Asia hate the Chinese and want to target and kill them evey time there is unrest.

To be fair the Malaysia govt was the push factor for him.
Agree on the lackey part, he and the likes of Li Ka Shing who made big money based on their PRC connections.

Hardly humble....insiders who know him calls him a snob and a racist.

There's this very good book titled Asian Godfathers.. His in law declared Robert Kuok as the biggest racial bigot ever.. As a child Robert was sent to a convent school where teachers there told him that his family's visits to Buddhist shrines were an act of devil worshipping..

You go this one wrong bro.

There are 2 people in this forum who know him personally. He grew up in a household where all races were welcome. Janil's the arsehold PAP MP father and uncle would often have meals in their house. One of Robert's daughter married a Indian Muslim. His own flaw was the way he treated his first wife. When he first started his business after his father died, he relied heavily on an Indian with all his financials.

Robert is still used by old man to settle issues with the Malaysians. I am sure the Malays would not bother if he was a racist.

In the old days, it was acceptable to make racial comments as part of acceptable speech especially by those who mix freely. The perception I suppose came about because the business is very much in family hands.

His mother however was a saint.

I could be wrong but his in laws went on record calling him a racist.

His daughter Sue's marriage to Rashid Hussian was also partly for business connections.

His mother was the one that disapproved the union of his eldest son with Teresa Teng.....wedding at shangrila was called off last minute.

In law needed money to get out a tight situation. Robert not prepared to help. Robert is very close to former Malaysian Home Affair Minister, tight buddies. One chap's comment does not make a summer.

Have heard rumors of Teresa Teng sleeping with a Kuok relative before ( as all showbiz ladies did in those days with influential men), and that relative told the senior Kuok and Mrs Kuok about it. Don't want to malign the dead but there will not be smoke without a fire.
