Lim Boon Heng to aid his PA successor
SINGAPORE: Special adviser to the chairman of the People's Association (PA) Lim Boon Heng said his new appointment would be to support his successor Mr Lim Swee Say.
Mr Lim Swee Say was appointed on Friday as deputy chairman of PA, taking over from Mr Lim Boon Heng.
"I don't envy Mr Lim Swee Say because he is already in charge of a big mass movement that is the NTUC, and also he has gone to a new constituency in East Coast, so I think the challenges he would have would be time," Mr Lim said.
Mr Lim said this at a community event on Sunday at Ngee Ann City.
He said he wants to ensure wellness programmes by the PA would be rolled out to the different constituencies.
The aim is to reach out to at least half of Singapore's senior citizens within five years.
More than 1,000 senior citizens took part in a line dancing event over the weekend and Mr Lim said such active ageing programmes have been very popular.
