It was poker night at the home of one of the men. And the three friends had just started the game when three masked men wielding bread knives burst in.
Fearing that they would be harmed, the men gave the robbers what they had.
What the victims didn't know then was that the heist had been planned by one of them – their friend and fellow poker player Farm Boon Tet, 21, who roped in the three masked men to stage the robbery.
On May 3, one of the masked trio, Yap Siong Huat, 21 (left), a full-time national serviceman, was jailed three years and given six strokes of the cane.
