for those travelling to arizona, california, colorado, nevada and utah, please take note. there's a huge high pressure system hovering much of the western u.s. and may creep over montana and wyoming. the high pressure system is causing heat waves and wild fires across half the u.s. temperatures have soared and are breaking records. for example, it may hit 130 degrees f in death valley. meanwhile, 19 elite firefighters of the "hot shot" unit in prescott, az perished as they were taken by surprise due to changing conditions on the ground as a result of walls of flames and shifting high winds. temperature in the bay area this week will hit 110 degrees f inland. the heat wave will last thru' the 4th of july holiday and may abate by this coming weekend.
