SINGAPORE: The four Singaporeans accused by the United States of illegally exporting bomb parts to Iran, have been arrested and remanded in custody without bail.

They are Wong Yuh Lan (female, age 39), Lim Yong Nam (male, age 37), Lim Kow Seng (male, age 42) and Benson Hia Soon Gan (male, age 44).

They were arrested by Commercial Affairs Department officers on Tuesday, and later produced in Court number 10 of the Subordinate Courts.

Singapore's Attorney-General's Chambers said the extradition papers submitted by the US are in the process of being served on the four persons or their counsel.

There'll be a hearing to go through the evidence provided by the US in order for the court to decide whether there are sufficient grounds to extradite them.

The AGC said the case further underscores Singapore's commitment to internationally-coordinated efforts in the context of transnational crime so that enforcement agencies are not hampered when dealing with persons operating across borders.

Also, that Singapore takes its international obligations seriously.

The AGC said Singapore shares the US' concerns about the violation of export control laws and the illegal diversion of strategic goods, and will not condone Singapore being used as a base for proliferation activities.

The case will be mentioned at the Subordinate Courts of Singapore again on November 1.

I am not of any idea that these Singaporeans had done anything bad to other Singaporeans at all. If so leave them alone.

Its strange that in the back of my mind when these four names appeared and judging by their race and age and no organisation name is ever mentioned. Someone how the name of ST miraculous came in mind.

Something is a bit strange about this case to the point of wayanging for the public. It seems these four are just scrap goats for the export violations.

Why Sinkandpoor never state what help they provided to the four accused persons? Is it not the obligation of the state to render assistance to their nationals even if they have committed crimes overseas? Fuck the Sinkandpoor government and the Sinkies for approving of such a government. :oIo:

we have commercial relations with Iran...i recalled a few years, we tried to suck up to Iran too...with visits ,etc.

we jump & place these 4 guys in irons & Fedex them to US at the moment's notice...but what did US did in return? They din't even return Francis Seow...LOL

The US can make bombs to attack anyone they wishes... yet refuse others from entering the market...

Have to agree that there must be links to a Spore GLC . With the tight controls in Spore, making bombs is a gov't monopoly It's not something you can do in your garage

The PAP is forcing the entire Singapore to take part in USA's war against it's enemies which is NONE of our business NOR interest. Indeed it would be much more be IN OUR INTEREST to help enemies of USA.
