Skint cops are moonlighting as MASSEURS and Avon ladies in a bid to make ends meet.
A record number of officers in Scotland have taken on second jobs to earn extra cash.
Their part-time careers away from the beat include teaching karate, telesales, selling Avon beauty products and giving Indian head massages.
Calum Steele, of the Scottish Police Federation, said: "The fact that police officers seek secondary employment should come as no surprise to anyone. They suffer the same pressures on household incomes as everyone else."
Cops must get permission from bosses before taking on other work. And around 700 officers in Scotland now have second jobs, in our table right — double the number three years ago.
Tory justice spokesman John Lamont said: "It's understandable that policemen and women are being forced to take up secondary employment.
"However, that the level of officers taking second jobs has risen so sharply is worrying." A spokesman for the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland said that second jobs were "closely monitored" and didn't interfere with cops' performance. -www.thescottishsun.co.uk
