SINGAPORE - A healthcare assistant had sex with a cleaner at a rubbish bin centre and then lied to the police that she was raped.

A court heard on Thursday that after the act with the 33-year-old Malaysian worker, Norlindah Roslan had a quarrel with her fiance over the phone. She was stressed and called the police hotline, claiming that she was raped.

That was not the only offence the 28-year-old admitted to.

She also consumed drugs; stole a $1,400 ring from a taxi driver; and assaulted her younger sister together with two others.

The court heard that at about 1.50am on March 3 last year, Norlindah, who was then working in Tan Tock Seng Hospital ( TTSH), handed her uniform to the alleged defendant at the rubbish bin centre for drying before leaving for a smoke.

She alleged that when she returned to the bin centre later, the cleaner pulled her into a room and raped her.

Police seized CCTV footages and interviewed witnesses and during their investigation found out that she had walked into the cleaner's room of her own accord and that the two of them had agreed on sex when they were smoking earlier.

In the theft case, the court heard that Norlindah visited Mr Yeo Shek Yong, 64, whom she had met as a passenger in his car in January.

On Feb 23, she went over to his flat in Yishun and when she left, pocketed a gold ring with an embedded piece of jade. She subsequently pawned it for $450.

In another offence, Norlindah and her two sisters, aged 15 and 25, went to a flat in Jurong East Street 32 where she slapped their younger sister during an altercation.

Norlindah, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to a total of three months and six weeks in jail, which was backdated to her remand on Feb 27. Three other charges were considered during her sentencing.
