SINGAPORE: Police are investigating a 39-year-old woman for making a false police report.
At 2.51pm on Jan 7, she lodged a report stating that an unknown suspect had robbed her of both her NRIC and Passion Card after restraining her by grabbing her neck at Yishun Ave 6.
She also alleged to have suffered injuries as a result of the robbery and described the suspect as a man wearing a black long sleeve shirt and white Bermudas.
Through follow-up investigations, police officers established that the victim had made a false report. Her injuries were self-inflicted and the stolen items were in her possession.
Investigations against the woman are ongoing. Anyone who is convicted for giving false information to a public servant faces a jail term of up to one year or a fine of up to $5,000, or both.
