Warehouse supervisor jailed a year for stealing $19,500 worth of cosmetic products

SINGAPORE - A warehouse supervisor working for a logistics company dealing in perfume and cosmetic products took part in a scheme to steal $19,500 worth of items and sell them off.
On Wednesday (March 30), Basher Mohamed Iqbal, 37, was jailed for a year after he pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiring to commit theft as a servant.
Another similar charge was taken into consideration during sentencing.
A district court heard that in June last year, a picker at Pantos Logistics Singapore asked Basher to take part in his plan to steal items from the warehouse.
Basher agreed, and the picker, Keith Mui Xuan Hao, provided him with a list of items.
Basher enlisted another employee, Muhammad Kamaluddin Abdul Karim, to help out in the plan.
Later that month, Mui picked about 400 assorted cosmetic products from the warehouse and put them in a delivery van. Kamaluddin then drove it to Mui's house, and the latter then sold the stolen items for about $6,000.
Basher was paid about $500, while Kamaluddin got about $300.
The next month, after Mui had resigned from the company, he told Basher that he needed to sell more items to a buyer. Mui again provided the latter with a list of products.
Basher enlisted the help of Kamaluddin and two other employees: Al Hadi Faiz Amir and Eddie Rudy Roslan.
Al Hadi Faiz picked about 300 assorted cosmetic products from the warehouse while Eddie Rudy put them in a delivery van.
Kamaluddin took the stolen items to Mui's house and he sold them off for about $13,500.
Basher received about $5,500, while the accomplices who helped him got about $300 each.
For committing theft as a servant, Basher could have been jailed for seven years and fined.
