I’ve worked with orangutans for about 7 years. People saying you should have fought back against the orangutans seem to underestimate them. Orangutans have the grip strength of almost 5 times of humans. Their hands are made for gripping around sticks. Which means their hands are massive and can wrap around a humans wrist with ease. This is a deadly combo when dealing with smaller humans. These people approached the situation perfectly. Orangutans are easily startled. Which could have caused the orangutans to lash out. Punches it would more than likely resulted in missing arm or broken arm. The orangutans wanted nothing to do with the humans fingers. These amazing creatures were holding her hostage until they got all the fruit.
