Two men targeted by gunmen on bike and cars in KL and Taiping

KUALA LUMPUR: Two men were shot in separate incidents, here and in Taiping, which the police said could be due to revenge and secret society involvement.

The victims in both incidents on Tuesday night survived the attempts to kill them.

A 21-year-old man was shot while in a car with a friend after leaving a restaurant near the Selayang wholesale market at around 10.30pm.

Gombak district police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the gunman, who was with two others in another car, fired twice at the victim and injured him in the mouth and left cheek.

“The victim's friend, who was at the wheel, tried to ram the car carrying the gunman and his accomplices but they drove off,” he said yesterday.

ACP Abdul Rahim said the injured man was rushed to the Selayang Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

He said police did not rule out revenge as a motive.

In TAIPING, a man riding pillion on a motorcycle fired at a man but missed him in the compound of his home in Simpang at 9.30pm on Tuesday.

Taiping district police chief ACP Yusof Mohd Diah said the two men on the motorcycle rode up to the house of the 26-year-old victim and had called out his name.

The victim allowed the two men, in their 20s and 30s, to enter his compound and one of them suddenly whipped out a pistol and fired a shot. The two intruders then fled from the scene.

Police have not ruled out the possibility that the incident was related to secret society activity. - Bernama
