SINGAPORE - Two days after a polytechnic student was placed on probation for upskirt offences, he started insulting women's modesty again.

Former Ngee Ann Polytechnic second-year student Clemence Koh Junxiang, 18,continued for almost a month and was caught after a 17-year-old student reported him. This was after she noticed a mobile phone in a female toilet in the polytechnic on Aug 11 last year (2015).

She waited for him to come out of the cubicle where he was hiding. When he did not, she told her classmates and the school authorities. A security officer then detained Koh.

Investigations showed that he had trespassed into the toilet and locked himself in a cubicle, to take photos of females using adjacent cubicles.

Over the next two hours, he took a total of 184 photos. Seven were of females using neighbouring cubicles.

His mobile phone was sent for forensic examination. It contained a total of 2,744 photos, the earliest of which was taken on July 15 last year.

Investigations showed that, on that day, he entered the polytechnic toilet, went into a cubicle and locked himself in.

He used his phone to take a photo of an unknown woman using a neighbouring cubicle.

On Monday (Jan 18), he admitted to 10 of 140 charges of criminal trespass and insulting modesty.

Among the places he commtited the offences were City Vibe in Commonwealth Avenue West, Daiso at Plaza Singapura and the Singapore Institute of Management headquarters.

Koh admitted that all the 2,744 photos were "voyeuristic pictures'', which he had taken of "100 to 150 women''.

He said that he took them because he felt "a sense of achievement'' and "it excites me and has become a fetish for me".

On July 13 last year, he was sentenced to 24 months' probation on six charges of insulting modesty, with 56 other charges taken into consideration.

He breached a condition of his probation order by having the camera phone, which he had obtained from a friend, without his family's knowledge.

District Judge Lim Keng Yeow called for progress and reformative training reports on Feb 11.
