A tour bus carrying 23 people, including 21 from Taiwan, is struck by a mudslide Saturday, when the vehicle is traveling in heavy rain in a mountainous area in Longyan City.

Taipei, Aug. 13 (CNA) A Taiwanese woman was killed and two others seriously injured in a tour bus accident Saturday in southeastern China's Fujian Province, Taiwan's tourism Bureau said.

The bus carrying 23 people, including 21 from Taiwan, was struck by a mudslide at 10:43 a.m, when the vehicle was traveling in heavy rain along a provincial highway in a mountainous area in Longyan City, bureau officials said, adding that they were exchanging information via cross-strait tourism associations.

Pictures released by Chinese media outlets showed the bus lying on its side near a slope and rescue workers pulling passengers out of the vehicle.

The person killed was said to be a 50-year-old woman from Chiayi, southern Taiwan. The two injured, who are both around 70, come from Taiwan's southern port city of Kaohsiung.

All 22 survivors, including a local driver, have been sent to local hospitals for medical treatment, a Chinese tourism official said.

The tour group, arranged by Falcon Tour travel agency in Kaohsiung, left Taiwan the previous day for their four-day travel in China.
