Lawyer M Ravi gets second medical opinion

SINGAPORE: Lawyer M Ravi, who has been in the media glare in recent days amid controversy over his state of mind, stayed overnight at a private clinic on Monday.
Speaking to TODAY, Mr Ravi said he undertook a medical examination to get a second opinion on his condition. On the results of the check-up, Mr Ravi would only say that "everything is very positive".
He added that he was told that he has been "working too hard and just have to take it easy ... (and) rest more".
In a letter to the Law Society - which made its way to the media - Mr Ravi's psychiatrist, Dr Calvin Fones, had stated that the lawyer was having a "manic relapse" of bipolar disorder. Mr Ravi's bizarre behaviour at an event he organised on Sunday also became a talking point.
Meanwhile, the Singapore Democratic Party called on all parties to "give (Mr Ravi) the space that he needs while he is going through a difficult period".
Mr Ravi has acted for SDP activists in court.
In a statement on its website, the SDP noted, among other things, that "those who recommend Ravi's absence from court for him to seek treatment may not necessarily be wishing him ill and those who are treating him are not his enemies."
