KUALA LUMPUR – Droves of Malaysians are believed to have fallen victim to human traffickers after being lured with fake job offers to work in locations such as Singapore and Dubai, with one of the masterminds believed to be a Singaporean man.

More than 1,000 Malaysians are allegedly trapped and forced to work as online scammers
at several locations across South-east Asia, including Sihanoukville, Cambodia, and a heavily guarded area known as KK Garden in Myanmar’s Myawaddy township near the Thai border.

Authorities in Myanmar have finally arrested a man who is allegedly responsible for luring and duping hundreds of Malaysians into lucrative job scams

A report by China Press stated that the man was nabbed in Laos and is currently being held in detention there.

Quoting MCA Public services and Complaints Department head Datuk Seri Michael Chong, the Chinese daily said the suspect is reportedly known as Danny, an Indian-American who is fluent in Mandarin.

It is said he would do livestreams on social media sites and post about overseas jobs paying high salaries with easy work.

After convincing his victims to 'apply' for the job, the suspect would personally meet them to pick them up and transport them to Myanmar via illegal routes.

Victims would only realise they were tricked when it was too late. They would then be forced to work for a massive scam and money-laundering scheme while syndicate members held them under ransom.

The number of Malaysian men and women who have been tricked into the scams is said to be high, and tend to be young

Earlier this month, a 19-year-old Malaysian who was held by syndicate members in Myanmar for three months, claimed that he witnessed "hundreds" of other Malaysians who were being forced to work in a 'love scam'.

His account of how he fell prey to the scheme is eerily similar to Danny's modus operandi.

More recently, two underaged Malaysians managed to return home safely from Myanmar after their families paid the syndicate holding them a ransom, reported The Star.

According to China Press, the two teens were seen holding up an image of the suspect Danny, who they allege is the man who duped them, at a press conference on Saturday, 25 June.

Although Danny has been arrested, the fate of other Malaysian victims held captive overseas under the criminal organisation is still unclear.

When an Indian or a CECA learnt to speak a new language, he will think how to use such skill to cheat people.

See this guy in the video, he learnt to speak Mandarin within 3 years.
