Police are beefing up crime prevention efforts, with a year-long initiative to raise public awareness of theft.
Called the Safe Shopping Campaign, it is now into its second cycle and includes roadshows at several shopping centres and talks for retailers.
The campaign will promote crime prevention in the shopping environment by highlighting threats against safety and security and how these can be prevented, said Mr Tan Kian Hoon, chairman for the National Crime Prevention Council.
Speaking at the launch at Bugis Junction today, he called the efforts "timely" in light of the upcoming Chinese New Year season.
