Singapore is so expensive but STB dogs still dreaming that tourists will come to Singapore

STB acknowledged that Chinese tourist arrivals between January and May this year – at about 311,000 compared with 1.55 million in the same period in 2019 – have been modest, but believed the numbers will improve as outbound travel from China picks up.

It expects this to contribute to a total of between 12 million and 14 million visitor arrivals in 2023. In 2019, 19.12 million visitors from all over the world came to Singapore.

“Our forecast is dependent on factors such as the restoration of flight capacity and the impact of global economic and political headwinds,” said Mr Andrew Phua, STB’s executive director for Greater China.

still have cheap hotels in sg. $369 per night at orchard rd area is considered cheap and good. $699 a night at mbs and or raffles considered a great deal.

Singapore is drawing International Concerts which Hongkong and Bangkok are even incapable of. What do you say? The forthcoming Taylor Swift Concert is an example. In Asia, she's performing only in Japan, Singapore and Australia. Her Asian fans will die die come to Singapore to watch.

With concerts from Coldplay, Jacky Cheung, K-pop Girl Group Blackpink, British Pop Sensation Harry Styles, Singapore is definitely poised to become the leading Asian destination hub for entertainment.

Only if they can afford it. Taylor swift only perform in relatively prosperous countries that can afford her tickets.

We are up market spending . There's no place for tourism. Most is spent a few days here. Then after that they look for job to settle here. Looking for spass , work permit or even EP.
Those on these pass are mostly indians.

This is a tiny island shithole, how many more days do you want them to spend exploring here?

Do you want tourists to visit the HDB ghetto areas, the industrial shitholes and places deep inside the jungle?

Some of the adventurous weirdos do, but they're the backpacker types, I've seen a few.

Most of them stop over here a few days to see the usual urban distractions in Chinatown, Marina Bay, Orchard Road etc, before going off to other countries in SE Asia. Deal with it.

Singapore is actually very big. So big it takes 54 man years to find our reserves! Of course a few days is too short a time to explore.

It's good that we depend less on tourism. We hire so many useless foreigners in this industry. It better that we should not try to punch above our own weight by injecting extra adrenaline into our tourism industry.

SG is so damn small and orchard and Sentosa road seems to get more makeover as often as possible. We better stop this as it will really price ourselves out.

Look at the amount of traffic outflow to Malaysia once it hit weekend.

TBH, we need a total remake of SG tourism sector if we really want a pie in long term

We need bus drivers to send little Singkies to school every morning. Tourists can take bus and MRT.

There's nothing actually in orchard road. What you can get in Malaysia or neighborhood malls, it's just the same. Sinky weather is sweltering. No point going to orchard Road.

Singkie land is expensive...but other developed nations are also not cheap... tourism is down because many countries are facing inflation and recession hence there are less willing to go on tour...
