President Tony Tan on private visits overseas

SINGAPORE: President Tony Tan Keng Yam will be overseas on private visits from Sunday till 18 December 2012, and 27 December 2012 to 2 January 2013.

A statement from the President's Office said during his absence, the functions of the Office of the President will be exercised by the Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers, Mr J Y Pillay from Sunday till 18 December 2012 and on 1 and 2 January 2013.

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Michael Palmer will carry out the functions of the Office of the President from 27 to 31 December 2012.
