A 19-year-old girl died mysteriously after she consumed two pieces of orange.

The girl, Ailsie Li, is a student at Nanyang Polytechnic and has two siblings.

The incident happened last Saturday on 3 September at 7am at an apartment in Choa Chu Kang.

Li had eaten two pieces of orange and felt sudden discomfort. Her father tried to help her but failed to make her any better.

He then called an ambulance and sent her to the National University Hospital (NUH).

Despite medical care, Li died four days later on Tuesday afternoon.

As the reasons for her death were unclear, the doctor in charge was said to have declined to sign her death certificate.

The doctor instead suggested for an autopsy to determine the cause of her death.

Friends and family were shocked at Li's sudden and untimely death.

She was cremated yesterday after a remembrance service attended by more than a hundred people.

Feel sad for the family. I have two daughters and a son. It would be devastating to have anyone just go like that.

So… she was cremated, and the doctor didn't sign her death certificate, and no one bother to look into her death… Great Place we got here. So… until the next "Sudden Death".
