I think pap probably didn't expect PT to contest in Smc.

PT is more of a national figure who speaks well and voters like him. He can parachute in any SMC and give a good fight.

His pap opponent is a local politician from elsewhere whom residents might not be familiar. Liang advantage is he can depend on existing grassroots networks to help him which PT doesn't have.

The playing field is more or less even.

Like it or not , Csj factor still remain a hindrance and will weigh down the performance of other sdp candidates including PT.

In addition, their call to cut the defence budget will probably lose them quite a number of votes from the middle ground.

PT needs to use his charisma to woo the voters. In addition, focus on govt handling of Covid 19. He is the most authoritative person to speak on this.

And forget about coming up with a blueprint for the town of estates like what they did during Bbbe. No one in their right mind will believe sdp can deliver on those promises like estate upgradings. Just be honest (voters will appreciate it) and assure voters their estate will not be neglected if elected.

The main focus of opposition campaign should still be about national issues and assurance to voters that their estate will be well taken care of.
