New OBU by LTA represents everything wrong with our government

I think LTA consideration was that drivers at the last minute before the gantry, wants to slide in the card. By placing it on the passenger side it makes it impossible for the driver to slide the card in while driving, thus removing the risk of an accident.
The reason that it is beyond sight is so that passengers of PHV cannot pinch it.

tiong passenger seated in front of rideshare car can now pinch it when driver checks blind spot on right.

Dr Khor said the current ERP system is getting increasingly difficult and expensive to maintain and so "there is an urgency, a need to implement the next-gen ERP" without introducing further changes that could upset the timeline.

If the ERP is not feasible, then go back to the good old days....

This dr says harder to maintain? Can show us why it's harder to maintain?
And implementation of new billions dollars system what is the saving cost?

Does the IU gives an indication that the card has been taken out?
rideshare driver too distracted by so many phones and apps to bother with iu. another screen contributes to distracted driving. only in sg. gadgets galore in the car. this one in tiongcock.

I wonder if there is Bluetooth capability on this unit.
App and platforms can always develop their systems to reflect erp deduction automatically.
But LTA cannot think of all these? Useless scholars.

i’m sure there is but scholars want uniformity. otherwise too many fragmented automobile platforms to customize, modify, and update apps, like android shitshow. best is for sinkies to bend over and get a standard uniform shaft - unique to sg.

ask any driver and he will tell you having a 15cm x 8cm (120 cm2) screen mounted near the A-pillar is going to obstruct his vision and be a driving hazard. how disingenuous is Amy Khor trying to be in saying the units are almost the same size. the exisiting IUs only block up 8cm x 3cm (24 cm2) of screen space, 5 times less than the new OBU.

shit for brains all round in the team that led the redesign of the OBU. Amateur hour at the LTA. No wonder the last transport minister stepped down.

In what was described as a "show-and-tell" by an MP, Dr Khor held up a model of today's in-vehicle unit (IU) and the new OBU to show that the new unit is only marginally bigger.

The OBU display unit is 15cm x 8cm x 2cm, while the IU is 12cm x 8cm x 3cm.

There remain concerns, however, that the way the units are mounted on the windscreen could affect drivers' visibility.
This time would be unlike SimplyGo, it will cost much more than $40m tax payer money to rectify the problem
